Especially Christianity?--I have many wonderful Christian friends, and it drives me nuts that people like Fred Phelps are technically christians too--I speak out against the bad ones and wind up tinged with guilt for singeing my friends in the crossfire--Life would be so much simpler if it really were black and white, wouldn't it?

but that's the whole point of life, trying to figure out the differences between what's right and wrong. it's also the reason i started saying fundie instead of christian or muslim. if your friends know you respect their beliefs, they won't take anything personally. nobody should be taking things personally, anyway. that's how we get into trouble.

There's no such things as bad people. there are only people that refuse to conform to pre-agreed consensus of rules within a certain society or a group.
Would you say that, for example, a pedophile who has relations with a minor of the same gender is a horrible person? Probably. Well, in ancient Greece it was considered the highest form of love and encouraged. Were they bad people? Of course not, just their sets of rules and values were different from ours.

There are countless examples. There's no such thing as absolute good, no matter which book/law/authority/deity/moral code says so.

Christians have allowed their lowest common denominator to become the most vocal, seeming majority. I don't doubt the majority of Christians aren't the immature, anti-spiritualistic, anti-good pigs that are all over YA... But, the pig Christians are the most vocal, and the ones who can back up their jerk-dom with biblical quotes.

I wouldn't necessarily say that they are good or bad people. I would just say tat some people believe more in the religion. So its just a mixture of people who truely live by te rules and those who are rather loose about it.

Because people are people. My associate pastor once told me that church would be perfect if people were not admitted into it... Kind of ironic!

People in general are all evil...it says so in the bible. Otherwise, why would we need christ. Every belief has people who screw up and make mistakes, it's our sin nature.
