Most people point to Surah 2 verse 191:
"And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. "
However, you must look at this verse in context. If you read the verse before it and after it, it is obvious that it does not refer to all unbelievers, but rather only to unbelievers who are waging war against or oppressing believers.
The verse before this verse says:
"Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors. "
And the next two verses say:
"But if they cease, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression. "
When looking at the Qur'an, as any text, you have to look at it in context. You can't just pick and choose verses and decide what they mean, you have to look at the whole thing. Obviously in this case God is commanding Muslims to defend themselves against people who commit war against them, not to kill all non-Muslims randomly as some people would have you believe.

You think ISIS is pure evil? Sure, but let's see what the Bible god told his “chosen people” to do to their enemies:
"And Moses said unto them, ‘Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But of the virgin girl children you may keep these for yourselves.’”. Numbers 31:17
Samuel also said unto Saul, "...slay both man and woman, infant and suckling." 1 Samuel 15:1-3
"Their pregnant women shall be ripped up!" Hosea 13:16
Nothing much changes, does it? RELIGION is the root of all evil.
