Whenever I go to a restaurant and order a martini, I always get a dry one. Well, I don't like 'em dry. I like a good dose of vermouth in there. So, is there a simple way to order this? For example, is there such a thing as a "wet" martini?

there is such a thing as a Wet martini, so no problem there, but the problem lies with the dopes mixing todays drinks. 95% of people today think a martini is supposed to be made with vodka instead of gin (as invented), granted the "vodka martini" is more popular today so it's the culprit in and of itself. There is nothing wrong with being VERY specific in how you order your drinks, James Bond was, why not you.

A Martini made with Gin these days is generally made with 2.5oz of gin and 1tsp to 1.5 oz of dry vermouth.

The less vermouth, the drier the Martini.

Over time the Martini has gotten more dry. It used to be 2.5-1.5 ratio.

If you like more vermouth then let them know what ratio you are happy with. Experiment.

Good Luck

A great many places don't actually put vermouth in martinis at all anymore. I'd probably say "with just an extra splash of vermouth."

A dry martini has no vermouth or just a splash around and poured out. Ask for more vermouth.

Vermouth is what makes it a dry martini. If you want more vermouth, you want an extra dry martini, not a wet martini. A wet martini would just be gin or vodka.

Just get vodka and grapefruit juice. Its the perfect drink. In fact I have had a few, and they are going down sooooooo smooth, heck I am surprised I am still able to type at this point.
