They think that saying the phrase "Merry Christmas" is more damaging than saying "*****" or "hoe"

As a Christian, I don't think that right-minded atheists are offended by the words "Merry Christmas" anymore than they are by "Happy Chanukah" or whatever it is Muslims say to each other on Eid.

This whole "Christmas controversy" is being driven by left-wing wackos who want a secular progressive society in which God does not exist in any form. Some of these people have lots of money and can push around corporations and force them into compliance. What they fail to recognize, however, is that the vast majority of Americans, even atheists, are not offended by having God in society, so long as He is not shoved at them and they are not ostracized for not believing He exists. Therefore, they will lose their petty war, and religious liberty in America will continue as it has since the founding of this country.

Sorry, this atheist actually says Merry Christmas and freely accepts other's greetings at this time of year.

I am a firm believer in free speech. I am also a firm believer that your right to free speech ends at my ears. I have the equal right to not listen to you if I so wish.

Looking at Answers here, it would seem that many, if not most Atheists here do not mind the use of Merry Christmas and most use the occasion to visit with family.

Some people get uptight at small things, others, me included, worry more about legislating a given version of morality or myths taught as science.

As there are several holidays celebrated at this time, I will often use "Happy Holidays" or the specific greeting if I'm sure of the belief system. I do prefer Merry Christmas.

I'm an atheist and I say Merry Christmas all the time. I actually enjoy seeing people happy celebrating this holiday in whatever manner gives them joy. So....

No, no they don't. The drive towards saying "Happy Holidays" is mostly a Christian one, and we don't care if you say "Merry Christmas", no one has banned that particular phrase, people have just encouraged alternate phrases.

Most atheists seem to celebrate Christmas too, as a secular holiday. I don't know of any atheist who has anything against being wished a Merry Christmas.

Please redirect your irrational anger towards your fellow Christians who want to make outsiders feel welcome, it is obvious they are the ones trying to oppress you.

This atheist doesn't have a problem with people saying the phase "Merry Christmas." I don't see a problem with people saying the phrase "happy holidays," either.

I say Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays. And, they both get said to me, often. Me thinks you are the one with the problem. I've not seen anyone think otherwise. Or, just can't find anything else to gripe at us about. Grrrr! that's my dog. Want a puppy? I have 7 left.

We are not threatened by Christian free speech, but we are threatened by lies about atheists wanting to ban Christmas et cetera. Well, over the years many Christians have not been reluctant to break the other commandments (especially the sixth one); why should we be surprised that they break the ninth?

My older brother is an atheist, and I just called him a while ago. At the end of our conversation I said, "Merry Christmas, Mike. I love you." He said back to me, "Merry Christmas, Jack. I love you, too." Them damn counter-examples will get you every time, huh?

My question is, do you personally know any atheists, do you have any who are friends or work with you? Have you talked to them and found that they are threatened by Christian free speech? Or are you just guessing? There are so many people in our country who fantasize something and then believe what they fantasize. Is that you?
