It depends on how mobile he is. If hes climbing out of the crib deffinantly a bed is better. Two was about the time I switched cause I felt my son was getting too big.

The reason for a crib is so you don't have to worry about you children falling out or hurting themselves. Cribs are a nice environment for your kids when they are young. What I did with my son and daughter was for them to first sleep in a crib. After a couple years of that, I would allow them to sleep with me for a month or so so they would get used to a bed. Then when you think your child is ready to sleep by themselves, buy them a toddler bed with bars at the end of them just in case they fall out of bed. Hope this helps!

Toddler bed. My son loved being able to sleep in his big boy bed rather then the crib. He just turned 2 when he started sleeping in the bed.

Either depends on your child..Crib has convience of keeping them contained. But the toddler bed is moving on and growing up...So they have to learn to stay in bed sometime...So my 18 month old sleeps in a toddler bed. Idont like prolonging...So I made the change and after a week of me up and down to make her stay in bed.. shes a Big Girl!!

My daughter is a climber, so she has been in a toddler bed at the age of 1. Then she wouldnt sleep in a toddler bed so we bought her a twin bed when she was two and absolutely loves it.

i say a toddler bed, they should be able to, like i mean if the kid isnt bad and listens you no, like the kid won't get out of bed after you put them down and come out and get into something and maybe hurt themselves.. like i was in a toddler bed by 2 and i stayed in my bed, but some kids just dont understand or dont listen.. so it depends on the kid, if your kid listens well then yes they should be in a toddler bed.. they should for sure be in one by the time they are 3 though, and potty trained.. i just noticed someone saying up there that they kept their kid in a crib until 3, i no all kids are different but they should be potty trained by 3 and if they are they need a toddler bed just in case they have to get out of bed and go to the bathroom.. my sisters and I were potty trained by 2 .. but i no all kids are different.. so if you child is comfortable in a bed now and likes the idea of having a "big boy/girl bed" then go for it, try it out see how he/she likes it and how they listen

I would say a bed. I think toddler beds are a waste of moeny. We just got are kids the beds they were going to have the rest of the time they lived in our house. We put up the safety bars so they won't roll/fall off.

It really depends on the child but 2 years of age is usually the time that children are ready to make that transition. We have just done it this weekend with our son who is 26 months old. We had his cot next to his new big bed for a while to get him used to the idea. Today we took the cot out completely, and he has slept really well, much to our relief! We found a great bedcover with his favourite animals on it and he loves the lion cushion that goes with it, so I guess that helps too. We bought a bedrail to stop him falling out (it is a regular size single bed so a long way to fall off!).

If your child is increasingly unsettled in their cot, or tries to get out of it then it is definitely a good time to try.

all my kids were in a bed (full, not toddler) by 2. the one i kept in crib the longest climbed out of the crib just before his second birthday. amazingly, he wasn't injured. better to switch them out before there's an accident....
