We mean that we, as HUMANS, ARE G-d's children.
That includes you, me, and everyone else.
But I still feel I should address the concept of the chosen people, as I feel this is at the heart of your question.
Being Jewish (and orthodox), I can tell you for a fact that the concept of "chosenness" does not imply any sense of superiority; not religious, not moral, not ethnic, and not racial.
After all, Judaism is the ONLY religion which teaches that ALL moral people merit heaven, regardless of their religious beliefs, afiliations, or lack thereof.
Choseness does imply a special uniqueness.
Historically, it goes back to Abraham. Abraham lived in a world steeped in idolatry, which he concluded was contradicted by the reality of design in nature.
So Abraham came to a belief in God, and took upon himself the mission of teaching others of the monotheistic ideal. Abraham was even willing to suffer persecution for his beliefs. After years of enormous effort, dedication and a willingness to accept the responsibility to be God's representative in this world, God chose Abraham and his descendants to be the teachers of this monotheistic message.
In other words it is not so much that God chose the Jews; it is more accurate that the Jews (through Abraham) chose God.

I believe Jews say everyone is god's child, not just the Jews.
Verda, your endless post only exposed your own ignorance. The Old Testament states very clearly that the Jews are the Children of Israel, however one must actually know Hebrew to understand it. B'nei Yisrael ('Children of Israel') is not a title, it is a simple statement of bloodlines: these peope were the children of Israel, otherwise known as Jacob. The Israelites, or Children of Israel, were simply the descendants of Jacob. Jews specifically were descendants of Judah (hence the term Jew), though by the time the name was applied by the Romans descendants of other tribes had mingled as well. Let's see if you can follow this argument: Jews are the children of Judah and to a lesser extent his brothers. Judah and his brothers were Jacob's children. Therefore, Jews are the children of Jacob. See what I did there?

Hey Mimi! Well, it's what says in the Bible. God has chosen the Jewish people to be close to Him. In other words, His children. It's just His plan that He fulfills.

when the bible was being written in English there were many Jews who was used to interpret the wording from Hebrew, Arabic, and Greek, they saw a golden opportunity to infringe on the christians belief and pretend that they are gods chosen people, yet in several instances in the bible Jesus called them the Anti Christ, and telling them they were the scum of the Earth, thru out the bible god has said the Children of Israel were his people, no where in the bible does it say the Jews are the Children of Israel, a novice should be able to see that when describing people such as david for example or Christ, neither could have been a Jew, Jews are the same as Arabs they are brothers , but one group split and started worshiping idols etc, those were todays jews, they have thick course hair, and dark complexions, both are the same, yet the description of christ is a honey colored hair and beard, blue eyes etc, david was a fair complected youth with a rudy complexion, neither fits the criterria of a Jew,please read the bible and also gov, of Israel PONTIS PILATES description of Christ, he was a educated man and the gov, I would think his description would be accurate, so don't be fooled by your local minister who attended a jewish seminary and brain washed by these masters of deception, surely you can see how a master can manipulate people as most people can't think for them selves, they are nothing but sheep, just look how the Muslims have converted so many of our people into terrorist and will die for them, and kill their brothers and sisters , there ar many examples of this in the bible if you have trouble finding them email me and I will send you the info, needed
