Just take your dog to the Vet.

I know when something itches in my ear or around it, I go crazy. Get some medication from your Vet to help cure it.

An ear mite infection can look almost exactly like a yeast infection. Yeast infections usually have a foul odor to them, while ear mite infections usually don't really have much of a smell to them.

If it is a bad infection, you really should take him to the vet for an ear cytology. It is not uncommon for a dog to have both a yeast and bacterial infection at the same time and the medication used to treat a mixed infection is not the same as the medication used to treat just a yeast infection or just a bacterial infection. And a mite infestation is a totally different issue. Not only that, but it is also not that uncommon for a dog with a mite infestation to also have a yeast and/or bacterial infection as well.

i know this sounds bad but you need to smell your dogs ears because ear mites smell as well as ear infections but ear mites are black and your dog will probably shake its head because they tickle all the time the easiest way of getting rid of them is using stronghold this you can get from the vets it also treats fleas, worms, heart worms and mange i have been using it for 4 years now and my dogs are very healthy before using stronghold i had to try and put ear drops in and i might add my dogs didn't like it at all with stronghold you just squirt it on the back of the dogs neck once every 4wks and it takes care of all the things i have listed but don't take my word for it ask your vet and they will say the same i wouldn't use anything else

Mites aren't as common in dogs as they are in cats. Dogs are more prone to ear infections.

Mites are also too small to see without a microscope. The vet would need to take a sample from the ear and look to see whether it is mites, yeast or bacteria causing the ear problems.

But ask the vet, they'll have plenty of pictures to show you they look like:

Little black dots. In a close up shot they look like disgusting little sumo wrestlers. Get her/him to a vet because it may be fleas or some other parasite.
