I just recently got a female Maltese puppy. She is eight weeks old. We have started to socialize her with other animals and people. She's great with people, she lets anyone pick her up and just cuddle with her and she never bites, barks, or growls at them. However, we introduced her to two dogs, both very friendly English Springer Spaniels, and she growled and snapped. Also, we showed her to a cat and she growled and showed aggression. She's so young, is there anyway we can break her aggressive behaviors towards other animals? One thing about the other dogs, though, is that she was wagging her tail and she began pawing at the other dogs faces in a playful manner after she growled and snapped at them. Maybe it was just a game? I'm not sure, but any answers would be great.

Okay, so basically, if I keep introducing her to new animals, even if she growls, she'll grow out of the habit?

Growling at new animals is perfectly normal.Just introduce her slowly and she probably will want to play.If not, remove her from the situation.

Remember, she is really small and only a baby. My puppy was likely to be a little bit afraid of other animals at that stage.

Hold her and introduce her gently to other animals, and she will be more confident since she'll be getting support.

Try obedience classes. Also, try watching the Dog Whisperer.

You can try to put your dog around other animals more often. You could also walk your dog where other animals are being walked too. Or you could ask a neighbor that has a fenced in yard and a dog and you could ask her if you could put your dog in there with his or hers.

Try obedience classes. These have them around other dogs, and many times they make the dogs behave around each other.

she might have been the alfa-female so she thinks that she can control every animal. you can't really stop that. She might also be protecting you.
