Against all odds, and despite the usual drumbeat of criticism, President George W. Bush has had a very good year. The troop surge in Iraq is succeeding. America remains safe from terrorist attacks. And the Goldilocks economy is outperforming all expectations.
Calendar year 2007 looks set to produce 3 percent growth in real GDP, nearly 3 percent growth in consumer spending, and over 3 percent growth in after-tax inflation-adjusted incomes. Meanwhile, headline inflation (including food and energy) will have run at 2.5 percent, with only 2 percent core inflation.
Jobs are rising over 100,000 per month and the stock market is set to turn in a respectable year despite enormous headwinds. Low tax rates, modest inflation, and declining interest rates continue to boost Goldilocks, which is still the greatest story never told.

I have the utmost respect for President Bush. He has faced tremendous criticism and manipulative pressure from the Liberal 'Crats who constantly change boats with every turning tide.
I am very grateful that he took a determined position against those who would love to see America leveled and all Americans dead. Having lived in NY, on Long Island during 9/11 I know the dread of that attack, perhaps not as personally as those who saw face to face. I have many friends and family who did see it first hand. I now live in Florida to some degree as a result of that mess. I am also grateful for what Rudy Giuliani did for NYers at that horrible time, that is why I would like to see him as our next President.
I am grateful to God for the time that President Bush has been in office that regardless of the attempts at our demise we have been able to live & sleep in peace and safety! That is far from what we had in the previous 8 years---100% good reason to keep the Mrs out of the White House!!!
So to answer your question, A pretty good year- Yes! But a courageous and successful service to our Country for the last 7 years! Mr President, I as a native born citizen of these United States and as a Veteran of the United States Air Force Salute You with great honor and respect! Thank You Mr Bush.

Yes. He was able to screw up the economy enough over the last few years, that the economy is now the most important issue in the next election, and not the screw up that is Iraq.

One must give credit where credit is due. He has accomplished far more good for America than his predecessor. I doubt any President has been treated as badly in the Press and by the opposition for two consecutive terms as has he.
While I have disagreed with him on some pretty important issues, I have to hand it to the man. He sure has been treated unfairly by the Press but he never let it interfere with his progress.
Kudos, President Bush!
Merry Christmas!

I think he has done very well as a president for all his years in office. He has protected and loved his country beyond most presidents. He never bargained with Castro, never bargained with Iran, or North Korea, or Putin of Russia. He has layed terms FLAT. Do right in the world, to us, and to everyone in your path, or America is going to nail your azz!
Right On President Bush! Where has his ilk gone? I hope he, and Ronald Reagan are not our last!
God Bless America, and the Troops!
Merry Christmas!

Exactly, he doesn't use focus groups and polls to do the popular thing, as a true leader he does the right thing, popular or not.. Bush has not wavered on his number one priority, keeping America safe. Libs don't seem to understand that one of the biggest reasons the economy is so healthy is because Americans have not faced any more attacks, thanks to the actions taken by this president. Seeing how quickly and easily democrats cave to the pressure of moveon.org types, there is no way they would have the stomach to stand up to terrorists and insure the economy stays healthy.

Goldilocks...diggin' it.
Is that Art Cashin?
Yes. I would agree with you that overall, this has been a good year for him. 08, however, is just gonna suck.
Not his fault, as I strongly believe the election will be the man cause being next year being a lack-luster year.

Yes, he is a good man, and an excellent president who could have even done better, with the cooperation of a congress that just don't listen to the majority of ther constituents or, or common sense.
Viva La Bush!

With whom, and with what little he has had to work with President Bush is doing a damn good job. Just look what he had to face in the last week;
Our democrat congress took the needed additional $3.7 billion in funding away from the VA’s 2008 proposed budget, and replaced it with their own personal PORK. It now sits alone and requires a separate signature from President Bush as $3.7 billion in “emergency funding” for Veterans Affairs. It seems congress even forgot to declare the “emergency” or request emergency funding.
And while most are expecting the VA to remain grossly under funded, I believe that with President Bush's intelligent fiscal responsibility, he understands how our nation does not need more research on family dysfunction, crime, homelessness or suicide. Modern society as a whole cannot handle this capacity of veterans repeating the years following Nam. This necessary $3.7 billion emergency funding for the VA is cost effective insurance for our children’s future.
To try and save face on Friday, 7 democratic senators sent President Bush a letter saying this level of funding is essential to providing adequate service to American Veterans;

Inspite of the examples you cited I do not like GW...as a Libertarian I find the globalist policies are not geared to our best interests...GW is an enabler of multi-national corporations that are systematically looting our country.

Yes, I think he has had a great year.
I don't agree with everything President Bush has done though. I think he is woefully weak on immigration and protecting our southern border. And he has grown the government over his two terms. As a conservative, this disappoints me.
But over all, I think he has been a good president. Not the best, but good. Reagan was the best in my lifetime.
