Behavior does not depend on breed completely. Your dog's behavior is up to you and how much you fulfill your dog's life by giving him daily exercise, keeping his behavior in check, and then giving him food, water, and affection. Consistency is key and a hyper hyper chocolate lab means s/he is a DOG that needs much more exercise. Even if you feel you give enough, and your dog is still hyper hyper, then it just means this particular dog still needs more. Providing structured exercise where you lead your dog is the most effective way to control excessive energy. gallopin, maybe you should be asking questions, not answering them.

Labs of any color are energetic and great family dogs.
Interestingly enough (and I dont put much credence into this) I heard that:
Yellow labs are the nicest
Black labs are the most aggressive (or more dominant...which ever you prefer)
And Chocolate labs are the most hyper!

I would have to agree with the chocolate lab statement...but I really dont (as I said before) put much credence into this categorizing of the colors!

Chocolate is only a color. A chocolate Lab is no different then a black or yellow. No matter if yellow, black or chocolate some are mellow, some are hyper, some are in the middle, some are easy to train some are harder to train.
Color is NOT a factor.

I love chocolate labs but they are defly very hyper. They need room to run and exercise! They also love attention. They make a good family dog and are good with children. They will however be very active throughout most of their lives, but very very active while they are young.

A chocolate lab is a more relaxed dog, very smart, give him lots of attention, if he gets too rowdy inside, take him outside and play fetch for a while, but a very good choice expecially around kids

No matter the color labs are very sweet, loving, smart and high energy dogs. Think lots of walks, ball playing, and chew toys are needed to keep it from eating your house.
