How can I tell from the vin number if my 69 Mustang is a Mach1 or just a regular fastback?I'm going to list it on e-bay and I don't want to list it as a Mach1 if its not.It has Mach1emblems on the dash but the door plate is missing.

Joe A is right except that the tag is located on the driver side door. The tag has the VIN plus a code line which lists the codes for the Body, Color, Interior Trim, Production Date, District(which ordered it), Axle Ratio and Transmission Type.

No way to tell definitely from the VIN. You need the body type code. All 1969 fastbacks have "02" as the third and fourth digits. The body type code gives you the different body styles. A "63a" is regular fastback, "63b" fastback with luxury interior, and "63c" fastback Mach1. I'm pretty sure the tag is on the radiator support.

If the rear seat has never been pulled look under it sometimes you get lucky and find the factory build sheet there where the line employees throw them when the car is almost finished. Not always there, but easy to look.

I would assume that if you were to contact Ford and give them the VIN they would be able to help you. You may need to give the Reg too.
