Do you mean that some parents think all children are innocent or just their own? Because I think it is ignorant to think that their own children are innocent. But I also don't know if it's so much ignorance, or the fact that love really can blind people. It's really not a bad thing if a parent loves their child so much that it makes them think their child is perfect. All parents should think their children are perfect, because they are!

It is not ignorance as much as it is a desire to believe there children are perfect. Also it is a self preservation tactic because if they knew what there children are really doing they would die so they chose to believe that their children are innocent even when they really know but they are in denial.

I have a friend that was the queen of denial. She thought that her son just had of lot of friends who came by the house to speak to him outside for a few minutes and then they would leave. His 18 year old girl friend suddenly one day bought him a Mustang convertible and she thought that there was nothing suspicious about the fact that he never had a job and yet he always had lots of money. After several years of this he and his Rolex watch found themselves in jail followed by a 10 prison term after being caught is a sting operation. She even spent the night in jail when the police found 2 bails of weed and almost a pound of cocaine under his bed. How did she not know? Later she told me that she knew but she just could not face it and so she turned a blind eye and hoped that it would go away.

If parents had a real picture of what their kids were doing maybe they could help them before it is too late but, I suspect that kids don't let their parents in on their little secrets because they will be sent off to military school before the can salute.

I think it's naive to believe children are innocent. Yes they come out innocent but they also come out with a mind like a sponge! This means they are constantly observing everything around them and learning from it. As parents it's our job to teach them how to interpret what they are seeing and how to make good choices from the options life presents to them.
Lord knows children are the epitome of self serving behaviors. They have few self inposed controls since they want to do what they want to do.
I learned early on that you should never underestimate what a child is capable of. As soon as you believe your child would never do something sure enough they've done it and denied it! Thats why we are responsible for them and why parents should be involved in a child's life and development!

Maybe we have different definitions of innocent, but I think that children ARE innocent. My belief is that every person approaches life trying to make it a positive environment. Kids are innocent. They don't start out trying to manipulate, deceive, lie, or cause trouble. They test and push limits to learn how life works. I believe that kids are taught by example that negative behavior is acceptable.

Now, if a teenager comes home past curfew after driving around drinking with a bunch of friends, that child is not innocent in that situation. That teenager is very much guilty for that offense (assuming that the kid knows it is wrong).

Children are innocent in the fact that they weren't brought into life with the intention of causing harm.

Yes, becuase some parents JUST KNOW that their kids are innocent and they are the main ones that are trouble makers . I feel like a parent should KNOW their child like the back of their hands. My mom sure knew me, so when people would say I did this or that, she didnt have to ask me because she knew whether or not I had done it or not.

MadameXC, ignorant and uneducated mean the SAME thing. Just to let you know.

I don't know if it's the parents being ignorant about the subject or them just not wanting to believe their children are not innocent. Every parent wants to believe their child is a good kid, cannot get into trouble, etc. so they just choose to ignore the fact that their child MAY get into trouble from time to time.

Oh god finally, someone asked, lol, I complelety and truly believe parents who believes that their children are innocent are completely ignorant, you may be good in parenting but no matter what kids will do what they please when they please, and I love when parents says "my kid will never do that" they end up being the first ones who cries when they find out they're babies are so innocent, believe you,me, I won't be one of those parents, my thing is you do it, fine, pay the consequences

yes of course but we all hope it wasnt our child. If they are brought up correctly to tell the truth then they would actually confess no matter what they had done. Parents are supposed to support their children not to judge them. If they do wrong and confess its up to us as parents to find out why they did a bad thing and how we can help them to not do these things again.

Yes. Some parents are just so blind when it comes to their kids that they will not believe anyone if they say their child did something wrong. I love my son to death, but I am not going to bury my head in the sand. If he does something wrong and I am absolutely sure he did it he will be punished. If I know 100% sure that he didn't do something that he is accused of I will fight to the death to protect him.

Yes.
Parents think their children are still uneducated about certain things or even inexperienced, at the age of 12.
Honestly, they are just ignorant

EDIT --
To the post telling me they mean the same thing...
Two below.
I was refering to the child at first, then the adult.
maybe you should learn to read better?
