It might be easier for you learn Portuguese because of the Spanish, German it is going to be little tougher. But go for it and good luck.

I took some years to learn portuguese...all my childhood and part of my youth..lol...
Actually I'm still learning..all those boring grammar rules.
But ok..I have no idea how long a non native speaker would take to learn portuguese..if u are an english native speaker..it can be harder...since we have lots of rules you couldn't even think of..our verbs conjungation is more complex and we have certain declinations to adjectives you dont.=]
But...a lot of studies could fix this problem..lol
Well but if u have french and spanish....(our cousins languages, for spansih I would even say our sister language lol) it'd be so much more easier!! *Piece of cakeee* hehehe
About german...I'm also a german student..and I can see similarities between german and english, but also lots of differences(they also have a more complex conjugation, declinations like in latin, etc), but I believe it'd be easier for u since german and english are cousin languages.
I believe I will take years to learn german, anyway=]
But....we just need to really want this and everything is gonna be ok!!=]
Good luck....for us!!
Kisses, Küsses, Besos, Bisous and Beijos!=]

that's really good. I know english, spanish, turkish, and portuguese =). i knew portuguese b4 i knew spanish and it was easy for me to learn spanish but i don't kno how it is the other way around. ummm portuguese has a lot of similar words and the gramer can sound the same but can be worded very differently so you gotta watch out for that. i think that the easiest practice would be to talk with brazilians or other people that can speak portuguese and THEN learn the grammer. i don't kno much about german but it "sounds" hard lol. best of luck and happy holidays =)

English is related to German and Portuguese is related to Spanish and French - and they're all related to each other ultimately - so you're halfway there.
