The thought of a virus doing considerable damage to the human population is a fact. A virus that could wipe out the entire human population may be only possible if a human was the create of something that does such an unnatural thing. There is always genetic variations in populations that make the host less sensitive to dangerous things like these that happen in the environment. The idea has come into popularity in the past couple of decades because of human behavior and technological advancements that actually make things like this very easy to do with the right equipment and brains to do but for now its all sci fi

Absolutely. The AIDS virus was apparently man-made and then released. I have repeatedly heard rumours of 80% reduction in the population and when you consider that the figure concurs exactly with the number of Africans already fallen victim to this disease, it is suggestive to say the least. Maybe Africa was a testing zone for the virus.

A man made virus would have one advantage over a natural one: It could be set off in multiple places at the same time. Natural viruses tend to start in one place and get spread about by human/animal movement. A man made one could be set off wherever the terrorists decide.

I don't, you would need a hugh amount and a network of distribution to the four corners of the globe at the same time to insure complete coverage with 8billion people to get infected, no not possible, good film though. Even if all the nukes were set off at the same time mankind would still survive, now if mother nature wanted to wipe us out..............

it's a possibility one could be made to wipe out most of mankind. But there are people living in very remote places that might not be affected. Also some people who have really strong immune systems could survive an epidemic.

I think its possible that something will be released by mistake and cause a major epidemic
they work on so much stuff that is secret from the general population and their safeguards dont seem too safe to me so its only a matter of time
I am hoping it wont happen but you never know, and i dont suppose they will ever tell us anyway!

Yes, of course. Probably a result of animal cloning experiments or an accident at a drug research company laboratory gone wrong. If we last another 12 years, we will be lucky. Go see movie currently in theaters called "I am Legend" starring Will Smith and you will agree that your question is a reasonable one.

Anything is possible. Though this scenario is highly unlikely. Man has endured through far worse catastrophes since the beginning of time and survived.
