i bought a baby doll for my 22 month old grandSON. he is very caring and nurturing, which is a great trait regardless of sex. the doll is dressed in blue for a boy, and says mama, dada, and cries and giggles. he rides it around on his ride-on toys, holds it when it cries, and "shares" his cookies with it.
he is getting a play kitchen for christmas.
btw, his favorite thing in the whole world is trucks!

I am having a hard time understanding why people are so against this. Dolls have become more and more life like and the consumers have ate it up. Now little girls can feed their baby with a bottle, change diapers that are really dirty, have babies that cry and need attention. We have been training our daughters to be lil mommies for decades if not centuries now with baby dolls. Why does it suddenly cross the line with breast feeding? I am always perplexed at why one of the most natural things we do as humans, is seen as gross. But we dont care if the little girls wear bikinis or look like they are 16 instead of 6 or 26 instead of 16. Out of all the things to pitch a fit about, why is it every one jumps on a doll that teaches that breast feeding is natural and healthy and normal?????

I got an unbelievable deal on some dolls so both my nieces and my son (ages 3, 3, & 2) are each getting one for Christmas. They are 25th anniversary edition Cabbage Patch Kids. Each comes with a total of 3 outfits and an ice cream cone that they actually lick! The girls are getting girl dolls and my son is getting a boy doll. We're planning on using the doll to teach him to be nice and gentle since his first sibling will be arriving in late spring.

You know...I really wanted to buy this nine year old girl that belongs to a friend of mine a baby doll this year, but I couldn't find any on sale anywhere. I was absolutely dumbfounded at how much dolls cost right now! Every year in the past, I have been able to find baby dolls that were in the mid price range of about $20.00 or less. But this year, the cheapest baby doll I could find was $29.99 and the next cheapest was $39.99!! Holy Cow! I just didn't feel like spending this much money on a baby doll, so I finally wound up buying my friend's daughter a Princess Island Barbie Doll where you can comb her hair and buy different outfits to change her into. This Barbie was $16. 00 which was very reasonably priced and pretty much about what I wanted to pay for a friend's little girl because she already has several bald headed baby dolls. This Barbie is dressed in a silk looking ball gown with a tiara and is really very pretty, so I think my friend's daughter will like it a lot. At least I hope she does. I also bought this little girl some winter clothes and I bought my friend a couple of gifts, as well. This has been a really tough year on my friend, so I help out where and when I can.
We usually try to limit our gifts to our immediate family. We give our grown children money every year and our teen that still lives at home usually gets whatever he wants, as long as it is within reason. He has a tv in his room that he hooks his Playstation up to but the screen is all green, so I think that the picture tube may be going out. Our boy is getting a new tv, a few games for hs Playstation and an I-Tunes card. I am so mad that Apple remade their I-Pods because after this year, I will probably have to buy him a new I-Pod. Apple has totally changed the shape and components of the I-Pod Nano MP3 player completely, so now it is obsolete. Yes, you can still buy music for it but our son's is full, and although I never dreamed he would fill it up with songs, he has. I guess if I can manage to get my hands on a new I-Pod (provided they don't change it again) I will try to get him one of the larger capacity I-Pods. I guess that is the way of electronics so they can keep making money. My husband and I are giving each other a computer printer simply because we needed a new one.
Don't know about you, but we've been cleaning around our house for days now, getting the dust bunnies, waxing all our furniture, cleaning mirrors, getting rid of some useless clutter and running the vacuum cleaner a whole lot this week. And tomorrow morning, I am making several different pies and we are doing to spend Christmas eve afternoon with our kids. That way we can go see my elderly mother-in-law and my husband's family on Christmas Day after our son has opened his gifts and the kids can spend time with their in-laws or by themselves as a family.
Just like when he was young, our son will probably be up at the crack of dawn. Yawn...that's so early for a teen to wake up but he still gets a big thrill out of Christmas, so you keep on doing it while they are still young enough to enjoy it. I can't believe how the years have just flown by. So to those of you that have babies and toddlers, enjoy these precious years because they pass so fast, it just blows your mind!
I sure wish I still had all of the Madame Alexander dolls I was given as a child, but when my mother moved, I have no idea what she did with those dolls. They are now collector's items and fairly expensive now. I could have given them to my only grand daughter when she is old enough to take care of them
but she's only 8 yrs old now and super hard on her dolls. Most of them are totally naked and our grand daughter doesn't know where a single complete outfit is (probably in her mom's
vacuum cleaner) to dress her dolls up. They've been the bath tub and she simply has not been taught how to take care of things, so even if I did still have my collection of dolls, she would have to grow up some and learn how to take care of things before I gave them to her. These were supposed to be keepsake dolls and I have no clue as to what happened to them when my mother moved into my grandmother's house. But she's passed on so I'll never know what happened to my pretty dolls.
It has actually gotten pretty cold here our in our state. At least for us it is cold and it seems more like Christmas, despite the
fact we won't have any snow. I can hear the fruit on my lemon tree beating against our back bedroom because the wind is really kicking up tonight. I hope this weather lasts through Christmas Day! It's a nice change of pace for us that live in the South.
So long everyone!! I'm sure glad all of my shopping is done for this year. Merry Christmas to you, Sweet Judy!!! I sure hope you get to see and love all over that precious, little grandbaby of yours!!
