I want you to know I am so very sorry about your Dad. I know this is a hard time for you and for all who love him!
Hun, call the cancer center closest to you as usually, they will have some kind of plan for the non-insured. Also, county Hospitals have some of the best doctors and are obligated to see anyone! You can also contact the American Cancer Society and they can direct you as well.
There is one more source which is greater than all, I can think of....that is God! I have no clue if you believe in God....but, I do! I have seen many situations made better by asking God to guide them! I am going to be praying that God will guide you, hun, in your quest to find ample help, for your precious Dad! I ask God to be merciful and guide you to the medical facility which will be the best. May God touch your heart and bless you for such love! I will continue to pray. God bless you for this endeavor!
If you need to talk, e-mail me,
gail

First I know this is tough for all of you. I am an RN and have seen how devastating cancer can be let alone worrying about the bills. Try the American Cancer Society, Medicaid, Churches and talk to the hospital. Most hospitals will offer a discount for no insurance. You will need to be aggressive and hang in there. I hope you guys can enjoy this holiday season with this hanging over your heads. Any cancer with metz (spreading) is scary.

Most cancer treatment centers have funding/grants etc to help with such.
Talk to the treatment center in your area and tell them of your dilemma.
If the cancer has invaded the brain, chances are other parts are affected as well.
I don't want to be the bearer ot bad news but once cancer moves onto other organs, there is little that can be done except to keep the patient as pain free as possible and you need to be talking to your Dr as to the projected outcome and how to manage pain.

Call the American Cancer Society. I had a skin cancer issue two years ago, and no insurance. They pointed me towards a few programs that could help me. I was waiting for medicare to start as well.
Best wishes to you and your father.

I would start by working with the hospital. Not only will they be able to direct you to organizations, they also have a high degree of expertise with the Medicare laws, and can help with getting the coverage expedited.
My prayers are with you during this time. I want you to know a person can choose to face this alone, or can face this knowing God is with them, throughout the whole ordeal. Please remember, cancer was never part of His perfect creation, and neither was death. He stands with all of us, wanting to comfort us during these times.

what state are you from? here in minnesota we have a number from the united way, its called "first call for help" and you simply dial 211. Look in your state maybe in the internet for the united way number in your state. You can ask them any kind of questions and they will help. Also try the salvation army, they can at least help with utility bills. Many hospitals and clinics have grants and funds available to patients in need. Healtheast is one such hospital in Minnesota. Go to the website and ask healtheast for advice, their CEO is Tim Hansen maybe you can contact him directly. Try churches in the near by area many times they have grants as well. Contact your state university medical center, they also have a lot of answers and sometimes cheaper treatments. Good Luck

That's horrible, I'm so sorry!
Usually Christian-oriented hospitals
(St. Marys, Saint anything, really)
Have a charity fund for those who can't afford it.
It's all donated by the hospital and/or
Patients and their familys.
Ask your physician about it next visit!
Or you can set up a paypal account and
Ask for donations, possibly if you do that,
I'd be happy to donate.
I have a ton of Christmas Spirit lying around
And I don't know what to do with it!

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but, sometimes even people WITH insurance can't get the care that they need because insurance companies will do everything they can to deny the insurance claims so they can make money.
you should try your local department of health or the american cancer society, they may be able to offer you some advice.
good luck to you and your family.

Purchasing a private policy for this time frame may be your only bet. Call your local public health nurse - they are a great resource and know just about everywhere someone can get help.
