NO. Don't do it. This is like having brain surgery for a cold.
DVD players are mechanical devices that often fail from use (or abuse). They might just be dirty (and they're easy to clean). The drivers are easy to replace as well. Get into Device Manager and uninstall the driver and reinstall it. Virtually all CD/DVD drives are recognized by Windows automatically. If it's a desktop system, replacing the DVD is easier than putting toast in the toaster. In a laptop it can be harder if it's not in a superbay like in a Lenovo.

It might not even be the drive at all. It could be the program that plays DVDs. Windows Media Player (free download from Microsoft) can play them. It could be that your laptop came with a demo version of a DVD player that simply expired...

why reinstall the entire of home windows while you'll be able to simply reinstall web explorer?? perhaps earlier than taking such drastic choices as reinstalling you must placed a query on right here with the disorders you've got and notice if individuals can let you know how one can repair them. in case your PC is handiest five months historic you will have a restoration choice - both a CD or a disk or somthing that makes it possible for you to go back it again to the way in which you received it from the store if no longer you will have a years warrenty take it again to the store and notice what they are saying.
