If someone is offended by you saying "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" or "You go on Boxing Day!" or "May the Goddess bless you this Winter Solstice" or etc etc

Then they are the ones with issues. They should just learn to chill. Wishing someone happy holidays in any form is said in the spirit of good will. People don't say those things with the intentions of being offensive, so we shouldn't take them as such. Even if that holiday doesn't match your religion or country.

They aren't trying to convert you, just wishing you well.

Generally speaking, it's not offensive to say "Merry Christmas".

Honestly, has anyone ever taken offense when you've said "Merry Christmas" to them?

It isn't. But some big companies and a few very uptight people, seem to think they need to go to huge lengths to sanitize everything to proactively not offend. Most people understand its just a nice sentiment, and not some preachy judgement or anything. :)

Incidentally, the Spanish word for goodbye, "adios", literally means "to God", or "go with God".

If people feel like wishing others a Merry Christmas, its a bit Scroogish to get upset. There's a time and a place for discussions.

They have nothing else to care about. Your telling them to enjoy themselves during the holiday season how is that offending?! People need to take a look at history and find what real offensive things are.

Only miserable people get offended by an offering of good tidings in any form. I am not too concerned with what they think.

It isnt a myth. Certain stores, including walmart, forbade its employees from saying merry christmas to customers until an outcry and threat of boycott occurred and they dropped the policy.

It's not offensive.

But, for example, if you know that somebody is not a Christian and you still wish them Merry Christmas then you are being rude.

Personally, I've had it happen to me about 50 times this season. I've never gotten mad but I find it a disappointing example of how these people think about others.

I've never met ANYONE who has been offended by the greeting "Merry Christmas", regardless of race or religion.

I'm not offended when people say "MERRY Christmas" - but to emphasize "CHRIST" just takes the good-will out of Christmas
