Listen to me. It's a joke. a picture of a church bulletin showed the phrase "God does not believe in atheists, therefore atheists do not exist" and since, it has taken off like wildfire.

I've read this several times and have heard the"explanation" and still don't really get what they're thinking and they can't explain it so it seems like little more than wishful thinking..
==
"Probably the same reason that some atheists claim that there's no such thing as a theist." So Jocko you're saying it's out of complete stupidity? I have yet to see any atheist say this but if they did I would agree it's moronic.
'angeltress' is another one of these people who claim to know better than others what they believe of don't.

I think (though I may be wrong) that they are referring to the concept that where ever you place your ultimate affections is considered your god.
For instance, some people literally "worship" their car, while others live for money, and others for their family and even themselves.
If I'm not mistaken, this is what is usually meant by "gods", and as such, it would implicate (er - imply) that one isn't truly an atheist, because they DO have some form of "god" that their life is geared towards serving.
I trust this helps.

Some of them can't comprehend such a thing and believe we are just in denial. HOWEVER.....I have actually met Christians here that don't even KNOW what the word Atheists means and have a messed up definition of it.....

In my experience, people who say this are often doing it based off of two things: a few places in the Bible which imply that God is so obvious in the world (and has written stuff on "our hearts) that it is impossible to not believe, or a misunderstanding of the word "atheist."

Because these people think either an atheist is lying or a satanist in disguise.
It goes in line with "everyone who is christian is good and everything else is evil".
So, the atheist is either a lost sheep in denial or an evil subcreature incarnated within the realm of man to corrupt and conquer...

Christians are taught that there are only two types. The saved and the damned. If you're not a church going Christian then you must be under the influence of Satan. Everything that isn't Christian is evil. All that tolerance speech is crap.

Because if someone can live without any gods, let alone their all powerful God, then it weakens their faith. You see, they don't really believe. If they truly believed they could face all truths and still have their faith unshaken. But they can't. They have to deny all that doesn't agree with their blinkered view of the universe. They have to prop their faith up with lies and deceit. They don't stop to consider that they aren't fooling anyone, least of all their own god. Do they really think that their god is going to be proud of them for lying about his creation? Do they really think he will be pleased that they had so little faith they had to lie to sustain it?

Well, I think somewhere in the Bible it says that God is printed on everyone's heart... but since not everyone is a CHRISTIAN it is weird for some Christians to believe this applies - especially on atheists.
That, and the fact we're all born atheists disproves it.

They think that atheists have to be agnostic because there is nothing actually disproving the existence of God. Apparently they can be theists, though with no evidence to support it, either.
