It doesn't really bother me. Should it? And is there anyone else out there who's parents do this?If so, how did you take it? I'm 18 by the way.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you find out? I'm guessing likely by accident, but it would be cool if they had actually admitted it to you themselves, too. My husband and I are swingers and please trust us when we say that this is something that sane people can do. You don't have to need psychiatric treatment to enjoy it. Just the opposite, in fact.

What you do need to be is a mature, responsible, centred adult who knows how to differentiate between love and sex.

Sorry, but I just need to respond to this:
"tell them your going to have sex with 2 guys and a girl at the same time, see if they freak out or not.If they say "cool, just be safe" then they have lost their minds totally and only live for sex, any kind of sex.
If they have a cow, then thats an admission they know what theyre doing is wrong."

That's the biggest load of horsesh*t I've seen in a while. I can't see any parent telling her barely-adult daughter to just go ahead and screw anything that walked. And when they "have a cow" because she's doing just that, it's not an admission of a guilty conscience; it's recognizing that there's a difference between a couple who are securely in the middle of their life, exploring some alternatives in their marriage, and a young woman who is just getting out on her own, just getting to know herself.

"Either way it shows a disrespect for marriage and commitment."

So you say. In my marriage and the marriages of some of our friends, it shows nothing of the sort. What it shows disrespect for are the outdated, stagnant rules that society insists must exist regardless of their irrelevance. We're snubbing social rules. Not marriage. Our marriage rocks!

"It is also how most couples end up divorced, or someone gets jealous and murdered, or someone outside the family sues for child support, how some couples end up dying of aids etc. This isnt to be rude, these are just facts hon."

Facts?? Facts are things that can be proved. The statements above are pure speculation. Many couples who try swinging end up divorced because they can't handle it. However, the fact that they tried swinging has nothing to do with the FACT that they were already screwed up going into it. The drama this poster described sounds like something off the TV show Cops. And how many of those shows do you remember seeing where the people getting slammed to the pavement were swingers? Nah. You don't have to be a swinger to be an idiot.. lol

I am really impressed by your maturity in all this.

If it doesn't bother you, then great. Cos it would freak a lot of people out. But you are lucky, so just stay unbothered if at all possible, and don't let people tell you different. Your parents aren't breaking the law.

Everyone is into something different. Consider yourself lucky that they told you and you did not find out by running into them at a swinger's party or function.

I say it shouldn't bother you. It's what they do to keep their marriage interesting. As long as they are happy, you should be happy. Hint hint....stay out of the same swinger groups :)

My parents don't and it would bother me if they did but it's their life. It's good that you have that sort of attitude because you'll need it in the long run.

Well, this is their life and their choice, I guess. They have reared a young person to have mature views and they obviously didn't flaunt it when you were younger so let them do what they want to do and be happy that they have a secure relationship.

i think that you are handling it very maturely. they are adults of course and can make their own decisions. they are lucky to have a child has enough of a head on their shoulders to honor and respect their parents actions, despite what others may say.

Wow your handling this so maturely. If you're ok with it then don't worry so much over it but ask questions and be open to them about this. I really don't think id be as ok about this if it were my parents.
