Don't believe anything people say about goth and satansim. Goth has nothing to do with any central belief, unlike punks or hippies, the subculture has no strict set of beliefs or values.
Goth is about beauty and darkness and stuff. Learn your facts and be well educated on the subject, and be mature and reasonable when discussing your desire with your parents, and they will recieve it much better.
Don't shove it down their throats. Try listening to goth music like the cure and bauhaus and siouxsie and the banshees and show your parents how unsatanic and harmless it really is. Remind them that Jesus accepted everyone. Point out that goth rock is better than all the rap that is on the radio nowadays. Do not listen to any death metal or anything with screaming, and if you do, do not let them hear it too.
If you only like like, hot topic goth then I can understand their repulsion. Chains are for bicycles. If you mean the real goth and go about this maturely and if your parents have any reason at all, I'm sure they will see your point and be more accepting.

I acknowledge that it is mostly a style choice but as a grandfather I'm sure that your patents are more concerned about the influence that these similarly dressed people might have on you than on the style choice itself. Can you confidently bring some of your Gothic buddies home to meet your parents or would you have to choose very carefully? If you can't are your parent's concerns valid?

As a parent, one of your biggest fears is the suffering of your child. It is a more pervasive care than you can imagine. Your parents are afraid that you are going to embrace a culture that will alienate you from them, or leave you unhappy in the long run. The best way to approach the issue is to gradually adopt Gothic customs, but go out of your way to show your parents that you still love them, that you still want to spend time with them, and that you are happy and well-adjusted. That might help them warm up to the idea.

If you live with your parents deal with it Child!
There is no convincing christian parents of anything they are set in their ways.
When I lived with my parents I dressed in all black and they told me to change I believe they said something along the lines of " It's my way or the Highway"
So I left and was much more happy.
Now I dress like a "normal" person and that's the cool part because I'm a Satanist and you would never know it if you seen me.

first, work out what goth is. You appear to suppose it's approximately garments and shiit from scorching subject. If you're going to be a mall goth simply to insurgent in opposition to them, then so that you can piss them off much more. Learn what it's (learn by way of "gothic attraction tuition" and allow them to learn it) first.

The Bible teaches that we are to abstain (stay away from) every appearance of evil. Gothic is not consistent with the Christian life. We are called children of light, and the devil's children are called children of "darkness." While this doesn't apply to what we wear, it does apply to the spirit realm, and what we wear could lead people to believe we are walking away from God or in disobedience to Him.
Most, if not all, people who follow the gothic lifestyle are following evil because of what is in their hearts. The gothic dress simply reflects what they are like inside. From what I have seen of gothic people they certainly are not followers of Christ. That fact alone would cause me to not want to dress like them or travel with them. Like Christ I would not shy away from ministering to them because everyone needs to know the Lord.
Perhaps you should ask yourself if dressing gothic would really honor the Lord. Even more so, if you want to please God more than you want to please yourself, then ask yourself whether you would give up that kind of dress if God asked you to. Anything that comes between you and God is an idol.
Your parents are the people who love you more than anyone on earth if they are Christian parents. If they over react about something it is because they are protective of you. I have seven children, and I would certainly be concerned if my child wanted to dress gothic. The Bible dress code for women is said in scripture to be plain and unadorned, and God is far more concerned with your inner beauty than what you wear.
I think you know in your heart what is right. Listen to the voice of God and remember also that He commands children to obey their parents in the Lord. You can't go wrong obeying God no matter what the issue is.

Not all Christians are like the Brady Bunch. Some can be Goth and still be Christian. It's what's inside that counts.

The Goths were the origin of the Germanic tribes. They were fairly primitive in their religious rituals, and were not identified as other than Goth. However, I don't believe your choice of style has any influence on your belief or non belief in a god.

Actually, Christians should ideally make the best Goths, what with the obsession with death and all... the idea that life here in this world is worthless and it's all about the afterlife.
