We lived in Northern Michigan. Beginning Sept my daughter would come down with infected tonsils every single year. She had infections so often that it was compromising her education and her symptoms and the appearance of her infected tonsils where not typical.
Aft conferring with a specialist we opted to have her tonsils removed. The first couple of days were awful for her.

You will have a sore throat for several days. Aspirin and cold things relieve the sore throat. But other than that it is over quickly.
Mouthwash with Hydrogen Peroxide and gargle with salt water. Tonsils can be treated as chronic and never need removing.
My children had it when they were young and neither ever had to have them removed. They were treated with aspirin and it always passes. (per doctors instructions.)

its painful after they take them out. Just make sure to drink plently of fluid and eat soft foods and dont talk loud. Just make sure to have cold items because your throat will be sore and dry.
