Tell your mother that she is wrong about the Bible and to quit reading into it what she wants. The only thing that it says remotely related to tattooing is not to have images of death put on your body. LEV 19:28 is the passage and it could be interpreted as saying no tattoos, but it says "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord."
As far as can she make you remove it...you're 16 and she'll have to foot the bill. It ain't cheap and it will leave a scar (which will also be a mark...hmmmm). But you are a minor and the courts would probably go with her decision. Let her have it done and refuse any repayment to her if it's her will. Then when you're 18, go and get it redone. Take a picture of it now and save it for the next artist and have the exact same thing put in the same place. Waste of money, mom.
My mom and grandmother didn't like me getting them either, but I was already 21.
Basically what the Bible says is not to mourn the dead by defacing your body. But you can honor them I suppose.

And as ak6702 referenced...that law was made for the Isrealites. Not Gentiles.

Home Based Tattoo Removal

Tattoo removal is really painful and doesn't have much success rate. Besides it's illegal to tattoo a minor anyway, so you can press charges against the tattoo shop.

About being against God/Bible/religion: I'm not a theologian at all, but I believe that the new covenant under Jesus makes the laws of Leviticus obsolete. Not sure what your denomination believes though.

Even if the color is removed, if you have gotten sun on your tattoo, the outline will still be there. Being you are a minor she could bring charges against the establishment where you got your tattoo. You may try to talk to her, and explain why you felt you had to get a tattoo. Tattoos are a form of creative expression. Talk to her, don't scream. I wish you the best.

Yes she can.But as Levitical law no longer applies to us.You didn't mention what division of Christianity you are.
The verse Leviticus 19 verse 28 "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print or tattoo any marks upon you:I am the Lord."
Now when Israel was in it's beginning stage some of the peoples of the area would tattoo their faces in mourning of the dead. That was an offense to God.He didn't want his chosen people to do what the false idol worshipers did.
As for being 15 when getting it done the shop that did it should have know better.Their in deep trouble(or the person that did it is).
Jesus, came to do away with a lot of those laws.CHECK with your pastor(Or priest).
Check out Pastor Chuck Smith(Calvary Chapel) call in radio show.Pastor's Perspective on from 6-7 Mon/Friday on your local christian radio station.

By the way my future step-daughter is a tattoo artist in Hawaii.I have got my first tattoo this year(Mine is witnessing tool-My age is 40)I do plan on getting another one.
Pastor Chuck gets a question about tattooing on his show at least once every two weeks. He say's it's a personal choice you won't go to hell over tattoo.(Like smoking your breath might smell like hell but you won't end up there!)
In fact his son-in-law owns a Christian themed tattoo shop.Amy's(My daughter) is also a house church.Kinda cool huh.

Well that guy's in trouble some real trouble.I'll be praying for you,and him.

If your a minor it is possible that she request that it be removed. Why don't you try talking to her about it? I can tell by what you wrote that she is a religious person and perhaps the talking might not help. Sit down and explain to her that it's an expression of who you are and maybe she will understand. I wish you luck...

she could do a hell of a lot more than just make you get your tat removed - she could sue the establishment that you got the tat from, as it is illegal in any state to tat a minor, and in some states, even with parental consent, they can't. It could even cost the owner jail time & a hefty fine.

Yes, she can force you to get it removed, you are a minor under her care.

You are a minor, so technically, yes she can...but you might want to focus her anger away from you, and towards whoever did the tattoo....they may be guilty of assault, maybe you can sue them for damages and get rich!
