Why do people say "Islam says kill all non-believers"?

When there are large non-Muslim minorities who have lived in Muslim lands for 1400 years uninterrupted? Lebanon which has been under Muslim rule for 1400 years is majority Christian- Bethlehem under Muslim rule was always majority Christian- while Muslim ruled cities like Istanbul, Jeruselam and Baghdad had huge non-Muslim minority populations-
India under Muslim rule 1000 years majority today still Hindu. Bulgaria, Greece under Muslim rule 500 years massively majority Christian.

Where are the non-Christians in Christian lands who have been there for that long? The longest staying community was the Jews and the Christians exterminated them in WWII (and they always sought protection in Muslim lands)

You do have a good point. Christians have done more active harm to Jews, Pagans, Gypsies and minority Christians than Muslims will ever do. Look at how the Western Christians turned on Eastern Christians in the Crusades. The Latin Christians raided, sacked and burned Constantinople. Probably the biggest single event in the history of the land of modern day Turkey. Constantinople was never the same. Eventually the city and Byzantine Empire fell because the action of other Christians - not Muslims.

First of all World War 2 was not a religious war and many Christians protected the Jews from Hitler while Muslims helped him.
Don't forget that your very Quran says to kill Christians and Jews...remember?
Now tell me, if Islam is a religion and not a political force, why did it conquer and ruled others?

Why do you say "the Christians exterminated them"? Why don't you get your facts straight before posting. It was the Nazi's that killed the Jews not the Christians. Why do Muslims think that every non-Muslim or non-Jew living in the west is a Christian??????? That couldn't be farther from the truth.

Because people take things to extremes. I understand what you are saying, and its true only 13% of Arabs are Muslim (I got that statistic from an Islam class I took in school) Before WWII the Muslims and Jews in Palestine got along and used to celebrate together, not blow eachother up.
I mean people take the phrase about not assciating with Christains and Jews wrong, they just cut and use what they want. That part of the Qu'ran was talking about if you should pass you should try to find Muslims to raise your children to pass down your traditions. Also the Nation Of Islam took the Blue Eyed Devil phrase to an extreme as well. That was talking about people in the desert suffer from cataracs which turns their eyes blue, making them blind, blind to God. I could go on, but you can see how easily it is if you leave something out and concentrate on one or two sentences to get an extreme view on life.

Hun, your facts are all wrong.

The Jews were not "exterminated" in wwii, but a lot of them were killed. The christians persecuted them a whole lot more than you think too, and way before wwii.

Not all muslims necessarily like jews anyways, their religions just work well together since they have some of the same dietary laws (something like that). Some muslims do hate any non muslim. But there are few of them.

In the Koran, Allah (I think it's allah... someone like that) talks about jihad. Jihad was taken to literally mean kill the infidels, or non believers. Now, however, people are thinking it actually means an internal spiritual struggle.

Most muslims do not partake in jihad like activities anyways, but there are a few who do (like the ones who flew the plane into the world trade centers on 9/11). Those few who do give all the other muslims a bad name, just as some of the atheist school shooters give all the other atheists a bad name, or the priests who molest little boys give all the catholics a bad name. Not everyone is really actually like that.

And I would like to point out to everyone that Hitler was a christian. His mother was a strong catholic. So please do not pin the atheist thing on him, as it is highly offending to some people.

Sura (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."


Sura (9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!"

Probably because the Koran states rather clearly to destroy non-believers and to not trust or assosciate with Christians or Jews.

From Sura:

"3.118: O you who believe! do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people; they do not fall short of inflicting loss upon you; they love what distresses you; vehement hatred has already appeared from out of their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater still; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you, if you will understand."

and,

"4.56: (As for) those who disbelieve in Our communications, We shall make them enter fire; so oft as their skins are thoroughly burned, We will change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. "

These are just a few examples of the kind of stuff that leads people to that conclusion.

Christians did not exterminate Jews in WWII. There is no way that Hitler was Christian. He did not embrace any relgion at all...except he viewed himself as all powerful that he was a god...an atheist or perhaps a satanist for all we know...but certainly no christian. Please get your history right!
Islam does not kill all non-believers. There is only a handful of extremists who see it as their duty and assignment from God to kill infidels. other than that, many muslims are very peaceful.
