It's easier for people to deal with humor than with truth, in some cases. :) The wise know this. They just humor the people who aren't ready or who won't understand. ;)

Wisdom is based in oberving people more than getting attention and based more in listening than showing off what you (think you) know and having a sense of humor about things rather than taking yourself too seriously (note: taking life too seriously is the same thing as taking yourself too seriously).

Wise:
Watching
Listening
Relaxing/laughing

Boring/normal/ignorant:
Trying to be the center of attention
Not listening
Taking yourself too seriously.

See why the wise people seem aloof and goof. Actually, the ancient Druid word for wise was gloofy. Little known fact.

See why people who are always in attention, talking and looking serious don't seem as wise.

It depends on whether they really are wise or not and whether they are representative of all the other wise people in the world.

The wisest course of action is to accept people, wise or not, are individuals and live life as they see fit.

Because the wisest people have already spotted life's punchline, or realised it's not worth worrying about too much.

Because they focus on different things than most folk. The things that seem important to your average person just don't matter to them. On the other hand they will spend their time thinking about things that never occur to your average person.
