Yes it's OK; no the sheet won't burn. But the dough will burn if it goes on the rack with no sheet...

I think you might not understand what a cookie sheet is. A cookie sheet is a metal pan or tray that people bake on. I'm thinking that you might be asking about a paper that comes with the cookies. You should remove the cookie dough from the package they come in and place them on a metal tray (a cookie sheet) to bake them. Parchment paper is okay; it's made for baking.

I guess they're called cookie "sheets" because it's a sheet of metal.

The cookie sheet won't burn. But if you put cookies on an oven rack you're not going to have cookies.

Yea, It's fine. Just the other day I watched someone bake cookies and they left the tin foil under them. If you're unsure about other things that arn't cookies, sometimes there's a picture on the back, that sometimes shows what you're supposed to do, and other times it may say otherwise, like there'll be a warning label or something. ^^ Hope I helped!

what else would you put cookie dough on? usually PRIOR to baking any cookies; you need to put some parchment paper on it THEN the cookie dough.

It usually matters if it is in the recipe. It won't burn unless u cook real high and are trying to.
