I have set up payments for my taxes and my payment is due on 12/25. However, I can't figure out how to pay it online. :( I can't call and pay it because the IRS is closed til 12/26.

Can anyone please give me a link to their online payment system?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that there's a fee for using the online payments. Normally the best way is to allow them to take the money directly from your bank. Or just send them a check.

Your letter from the IRS staes to mail your payment 5 days before the due date. So far you are late in mailing in your return. IRS was opened Friday until 8 p.m. so you had plenty of time to call and make a payment. If I were you I would run to the nearest Mailbox and drop your payment off.

Go to irs.gov and type in credit card payments. This will give you all of the addresses and phone number fors one time payments by credit card or debit card. (If you owe $120 or more, the debit card route is cheaper.)

In my case, I'd pay with eftps.com, but it takes 2 weeks to get set up with them.

By the way, the IRS only goes by postmark for money mailed in with a return on 4/15. After that it's by date of receipt. If you are late with your installment agreement payments you can default and it costs $45 to reinstate! (As bad, the penalty rate goes up too.)

The IRS does not accept credit/debit cards over the phone. You must go through link2gov or official payments--and for credit cards, they charge a 2.5% convenience fee.

For payments sent by mail, I think that the IRS goes by postmark date, not date of receipt. I think that the post office is open on Monday, December 24, although the lines will be long.
