Want of power. Domination.

The Bible says the Love of Money is the root of all KINDS of evil not the root of all evil.

That's an interesting question. The wording comes from the Bible: 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

However, few people seem to read it in context. Paul in 1 Tim. 6:5-10 is addressing people who think that godliness is a means of gain, and who desire to be rich. For these people, the love of money will be the root of all sorts of evil - of ignoring their spouses, of being workaholics and hurting their health in the process, of spurning the care and teaching of their children, of making foolish choices and risking their family finances, and so on.

In other cases, some people will love the admiration of others, or greatly desire a particular job or thing. They can make foolish choices as a result, and for them, the root of all kinds of evil there will be they desire for admiration, a job, or whatever.

I hope this helps you see the question in context. It was meant for a specific and narrow application, and not a universal one.

the believe in evil is the root of evil. in nature there is no evil. only the will to survive and procreate. man like to think and he thought up the concept of evil. now the majority of human beings alive are Jewish, Muslim or Christian and believe in evil. That is why evil is strive.

More realistically though, when a child gets locked in the closed by its own mother, kicked and beaten and fed food from the ground, this child has no morals or empathy and becomes wild. the actions by such a child when it becomes an adult could be considered evil by someone who grew up in a loving and caring environment. evil is a matter of perception...

Existence. In some sense, you could say that good is the root of evil. As with black type on a white page, or any figure/ground analogy, you can't have one without the other. Our goal is not to completely eliminate evil, but to limit and contain it.

Religion, the state organisation of faith.

They (sic) say the line between good and bad is so fine, and the devil is in the detail, and I think that the organisation of individual beliefs was the first slippery step down the slope to hell.

Money is the oil that lubricates this system
