May the Lord be with Mr Blair.
The Catholic Church accepts all recovering sinners. No repentant sinner is ever turned away.

Cherie Blair comes from a devout Roman Catholic family. (Her father was Tony Booth - the famous porn star). It has been clear for many years that Tony Blair was heavily influenced by his wife's devotion, and was likely eventually to convert.
It is probably that Tony Blair deferred making a full commitment to Roman Catholicism until he was no longer prime-minister. Tony Blair said several times that he did not a politician's faith was anyone's business but his own. He probably realised that converting while in office would have led to spurious and unhelpful populist focus on his motivations.
But Tony Blair has been Roman Catholic in everything but name for a very long time indeed.

The English government needs to promote the basic rights to ALL citizens in England.
How tragic and sad that England can still institutionalize bigotry against people, in particularly Roman Catholics from holding certain positions within their democracy.
Tony Blair and family congratulations. I wished he would have challenged this constitutional bigotry founded by King Henry VIII ego.

I hate Tony Blair. He is responsible for the loss of thousands of lives and his corruption and desire for personal gain have done immense damage to my country.
I hear when you become a Catholic you have to do a 'first confession'. If Blair tells the truth (which is unlikely) he's going to be sat in that box confessing to the priest for several years. If he had any shame at all, and truly repented of his sins, he would not turn Catholic, but should instead commit suicide in the most slow and painful way he can.

I think that it is a smart move. Catholics will forgive anyone their past sins with just a little lip service, and after his involvement in Iraq he certainly needs forgiveness.

I saw on the news I do not like the hype they are giving it. I think he just went along with his wife but does not truly believe all their doctrines either that or he has changed may views since leaving downing street.

did it for the wife and kids. might have been political suicide to do it when he was in office, so he waited. it's like when george costanza converts to latvian orthodox for his girl. like he said. "what do i care"?
