Food used in advertising is has usually been scrutinized and selected because of visual appeal. Oftetimes, they don't even use real food in the ads. There was a special on HBO a long time ago where they told us secrets of food advertising. Some of the things they showed:
- Colored Crisco for ice cream. It keeps its shape and doesn't melt under the hot lights.
- Hand selecting each and every corn flake and using glue for milk
- Hand selecting the lettuce and tomatoes for hamburger and only browning the outside of the burger patty so it doesn't shrink (the insde of the patty was still raw).
It's allabout making the food pretty. You aren't going to be enticed by what looks like crap on a plate. They save that experience for when you actually go to the eating establishment.

Because Subway is very skimpy with the ingredients that they put on your subway sub,it's mostly bread. Did you know that I can make my own homemade subs cheaper than what subway wants to charge, and on my homemade subs, you ACTUALLY GET different meats, cheeses, and whatever else you want on it! Subway charges way too much for what little ingredients that they do give you!

Because the ones they make in the commercial, a person spends about 30 minutes making sure it looks just right. The one you get at your local show is slapped together in a min.

They make the sandwich for the commercial very, very carefully so it will make their products look appealing. In the actual restaurant they don't take that much time or care when preparing the food.

cause in the commercial you have highly proclaimed chefs who make the sandwich with expensive ingriedients and then camera guys who put it in the right lighting so that it looks yummy, but when you go to the subway to pick up your sandwich its made by some greasy acne covered kid who forgot to wash his hands after going to the bathroom.

Because someone gets paid to make food look good for commercials and pictures and such.
Now who wouldn't want a job like that?

thats cause they push all the meat to the front of the shell for the shoot.
