i have a wiener dog (mini)...he's VERY playfull and goes crazy without toys. but the problem is he hates rubber toys....and if i buy him toys that squeek he will shred it within hours and take the squeeky out and chew on it and almost choke on it. I've tried buying him tennis balls that squeeked so he wouldnt choke on it, but he's just tear holes in it trying to get to the middle. is there anyway to train him to stop destroying his toys? thanks.

Some dogs can't handle the "responsibility" of squeaky toys. Unfortunately, my dogs are the same way. It's a blessing in disguise- you can't leave him unattended with them but at least he's smart enough to have the problem solving skills to get to the squeaker :) It's a shame to spend money on toys only to have them destroyed. If your money is disposable enough, you can just keep buying them as he ruins them, but don't leave him unattended with them, as there is a choking hazard. Otherwise, stick to non squeaking toys.

Tip: We get our dogs a kind of TY Beanie Baby that's made for babies- it's plump and has a rattle in it. The dogs like the rattle just as much as the squeak, but they don't try to get to it. The rattle sound is much less annoying than a squeak too (even though I actually like the squeak.)

My Dachshund tears the squeaker out of toys as well... you either have to buy better made toys or by solid bones or something that doesn't have a squeaker. The squeaking noise raises a predator instict in them that causes them to tear up the toy haha.

A different kind of toy, or let him destroy the toy and take away the squeaky part before he chokes on it.

don't give him toys with those sorts of squeakers in them. There are tons of other toys for him to play with and he will choke on them so just stop getting them and that will solve that problem.

Take the squeakers out of the plush toys and just sew the place you cut to get to it back up.

Hi, I know that everyone is telling you "DONT BUY THOSE TOYS BUY HIM SOMTHING ELSE".Well, you might like buying those toys for him, for a certain reason.

I know this might sound a bit mean, but its really not, and it works.

when ever you see he as done it again, take the two parts, rub it in his face (be nice, do it lightly) and then smack his nose.they dont like it, but they get over it ASAP, and it works.!.
