I don't know your situation, but before you start using it you might want to think for a minute. I live with my Russian-speaking fiancee and her daughter in Ukraine. They ALWAYS sound like they are yelling at one another even when they are saying "I love you, sweet pea". For some reason, the volume they use when speaking Russian is much louder that what we are used to hearing from English speakers. The emotional force of Russian speech also sounds much greater. These are just my impressions because I don't speak Russian. But watching Russian being spoken on television and Russian being spoken on film and Russian being spoken between live people sitting next to me, I have learned to NEVER judge the content of what is being said just by the volume or emotional force being put into it. I have been wrong more often than I have been right in judging what is being said on that basis. So before you start telling the Russians around you to stop yelling, you need to make sure that you're not just reacting as an English speaker to the higher volume and greater emotional force of normal Russian.
