It has been in the making for about a year now that after my past supervisor left to become a CNA I would continue in her position. ( I work at Subway) Well now that I and another girl are in charge, I am getting a lot of crap from my former co-workers.
I feel it may be because I am either younger or the same age as all of the people I work with. But I have been there for three years, and the owners have already recognized that I am their best worker which led them to the decision to move me up.
Everyone argues with me, and talk crap about me now..I don't know how to handle it, it sends me home in a bad mood everyday now.

The crap that people give me is arguing with me and not doing what I say, and sometimes joking around with me when I am being serious.
Such as today, I put a note up that people need to cut back on a certain something they prep. A worker came to me and explained that they are supposed to make that much, and I explained that we still had some from four days prior which is insane! So its time to cut down until after Christmas. She rolled her eyes at me and hen refused to speak or make eye contact through the day.

Doing a job exceptionally well is totally different from supervising other personnel so that they can do their jobs as exceptionally well.
From experience, I used to manage a department consisiting of more than 100 personnel ( I had several supervisors to assist me ).
1. Exert your authority vested by management. But ... outside work, continue to be friends.
2. Be fair - detach your personal feelings and concentrate on the functions of your team.
3. Stress to your people that your team is just like an orchestra. And you are the conductor, making sure that the team functions well.
4. Welcome job improvement suggestions. Even if you have years of experience, recognize a good process improvement and give credit to the person that proposed it.
If would help if you further edit your question and describe the "crap" that you get from your fellow workers.

Actually, there are several issues, but the most important is their reaction to you changing, what amounts to, corporate policy. Unfortunately, after the note was posted, any attempts to explain your common sense adjustment to the "posted" prep quotas would be lost in the conflict of subordination.
Did you post an order, or did you post an explanation of the change? If it was not explained, was there a title, such as "Holiday Cut Back" or "Loss Prevention"? As your check list of daily requirements illustrates, many people need to be told what do. The trick is to do it with influence instead of power.
Power without discipline is arrogance and this may be what the others are seeing. You already have the authority and a little finesse cannot detract from it. When faced with a decision, consider your first option and write down the second one. Usually, with a little editing, the second is the better choice. Good Luck.

Yes I have had this happen before. Most of them are jelous therefore they treat you bad because they wish they where in your shoes. Don't let the haters get to you. If he doesn't get better soon then you'll do what I had to do which was bring in new employees. Have a meeting and tell everyone they need to change there attitude and take your seriously or you will get rid of them. That should solve the problem. Congrads on your new position and happy holidays

Just because you were promoted doesn't suddenly give you insight or experience in managerial techniques and skills. If you are serious about being taken seriously, you should go to a bookstore and consider buying a book or two on how to manage people - it will give you better answers then you will find on here, and the information will serve you well for your entire career.

Time to act the part. Call a meeting before or after hours and attendance is mandatory no excuses.
Tell them you earned your position and they can either start cooperating with you or find themselves another job. You want to do right by all of them, but if they continue with their present attitude you will have no choice but to report this to your boss. No business can function smoothly with this sort of petty childish jealousy and bad attitude. they are jealous, childish and selfish. Given the number of people out of work who would love to step and and take their jobs, they need to behave or else. Then thank them for their time and ask if they have any questions...ALL are EASILY replaced!
They are testing you...let them know in NO uncertain terms YOU are the boss now...like it or get out, period.

well your a sup.. if they don't listen to you, you can always make and example out of one of them. maybe the problem is your being to nice.
i had a sup that was one of us and then got promoted and she always wanted to be someone best friend instead of someones boss and it got aggravating. Your job is to lead these people and let them know what is and is not acceptable. Also i hate to bring this up, but, are you working as hard as you did before? if your not thats a good reason to loose the respect from your crew. if your shoving off responsibilities on to them, they are likely going to talk about you and start to look for a new job

Dont think approximately a union ? you will could desire to have reported her behaviour to the union. besides she for sure has dissatisfied you via long tale you published good right here so which you will could desire to be leaping for exhilaration she is going !!! basically forget approximately her in the trail of her final days as you recognize it is going to quickly be over. i might on the desirable day point out to her what you think of of her.permit her understand precisely what you sense. there is lots injustice and favouritism in places of work,i've got had all this too. presented that she leaves information what you assume of her, which you will smile and be at peace then.

Unfortunately you are going to have to go through the disciplinary process that your company has. That is the only way that people are going to respect you to unless you set the expectation that they can not treat you the way they are. Insubordination is not tolerated. You also have to make sure you are communicating with them in a professional manner.

You need to tell them what you need and if they don't do it, reprimand them accordingly. Sadly, you will probably lose some friends- it is hard to be over someone sometimes and equals while out hanging out. the owners need to back you up. Remember, Machiavelli said it is better to be feared than loved- instill a little fear in them, and they'll get the job done
