The Department of Transport has confirmed that I MAY HAVE BEEN criminalized for an UNINTENTIONAL act in which I MAY VERY POSSIBLY have been driving completely SAFELY without risk to myself or anyone else - simply because I exceeded a speed limit.

Well, I suppose all I'd say is that if your husband/wife/child was run over and killed and the driver was exceeding the speed limit at the time, you would very probably consider it a crime and want justice to be done.

I was stopped by the Police who said I was doing over the speed limit. I said I was not, and insisted he have the road checked by the AA who were in the vicinity. They did so and found out I was correct as there was no sign up to say I was still in the 30m zone. Clever , he was trying to be but as I travelled the road every week I knew there was no sign. The following week they had put up the sign...!! but I was still right.
