I've just read a question that said that all christians are delussional and should be put in an assylum.
Look, I'm Athiest and I don't go around telling ppl that god doesn't exist and they're delussional.
But I also don't like Christians coming up to me telling me that I should believe. I cannot tell you how many people have told me that I need help and that I am a lost soul.
I think we should all just get along, believers and non-believers alike. What's the point of trying to convince someone that won't listen? I know I don't, do you?

Blanche, the responses here seem to prove the point you were making. But to answer your question. If you are concerned for somebody and you feel they are in danger you will want to point it out them. However, you are correct, when it is apparent that they are not listening, or not at all interested, you should not try to force them into something, But I still think, out of concern, you should bring it up once in awhile without being forceful. And yes I am a Christian. I believe that without the Holy Spirit working in a person's life it is not possible for them to understand the truth. So while I do try and tell people about salvation, if they are not interested in hearing it, I drop it and pray for them but bring it up from time to time out of concern for their soul. Hope that answers your question. And by the way try to ignore the rude comments, that seems to be the only way some people can answer questions.

It's not just Christians and atheists that give unwanted diatribes. I cringe when I encounter people who always want to interject politics into even the most apolitical discussions.

But the fact of the matter is, whether it's religion, politics, sports, or whatever, "it takes to tango".

I've noticed that in 99% of the cases when it comes to religion or politics, and I don't really feel like discussing it, it is very effective to just say "Let's not get into that right now - one problem at a time" or something else that clearly draws the line.

If that doesn't work, I either just walk away, change the subject, or zone out. That, too, is very effective but can be socially "abrasive" so I use that as a last resort.

However, I also COMPLETELY understand it when somebody you absolutely disagree with just keeps spouting theire rhetoric and you're moved to "fight fire with fire" (I'm guilty of that, too). But, like I said, that's when it takes two to tango and I blame myself for letting that "conversational escalation" occur.

Edit: To Universal Pants....since you wrote "it makes it look like your a christian pretending". Does that mean you also are a "Pretending Christian" or just another name-calling Atheist that doesn't know the difference between "your" (possessive) and "you're" (contraction of "you" and "are")??

BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

How can anyone believe that there is no God?
I as well as all humans are a creation, so we had a creator.
To think our body in all its complexity is sheer chance is like believing if you jump alot you will reach the moon eventually.
We have been created, much like we create many things as humans. Even the devil believes in God! If you doubt what i say, just consider the complexity found in nature and in the structure of cells. I believe an "atheist" is simply one who is denying their creator who or whatever it may be.

Hey, don't worry about misspelling!
Indeed a lot of christians feel obliged to tell you about 'the good news of salvation'.
Yet a lot make many misstakes. If you would let them make a mistake once, then just let them be!
For a real human indeed makes mistakes!
but if they continuously bug you, then this has nothing to do with God, nor with love.
You see, religion tells christians to tell other people about God, not God himself.
if people would care more about what God had to say, and less about what religion has to say, then you and the rest would get along just fine!

Believe it from me, a christian: You are able to choose your own destiny, and your own lifepath..
If God ever reveils himself to you, then you can be with God, but I can never make you believe in God.
It's something between you and God allone.
As for me and you? I hope you and I would get justt fine as poeople, not caring about eachother's religion!

Allthough (just like a salesman trying to show you that he has a better product then you) I do hope one day you'll realise that there's some truth in what we say.

Yet, having said that, it's upto you to decide... And not upto me to make your life miserable....
I jut long to get along with everyone fine and be happy just like anyone else!

As a Christian I enjoy the conversation about beliefs about our world, ourselves, and our universe. I enjoy the debate and rarely get angry about what anyone believes! I know every person has their unique perspective about life, liberty, and faith.

We simply can not silence the discussion because someone will get offended, or not like what is said! Being polite in discussion is a part of respect, but that does not mean I have to say what you want to hear. I simply must speak in respect about things that may be difficult for you to hear.

Freedom of speech is essential to human freedom.

some people are so full of themselves that they can't seem to understand that people can believe differently but still be decent on the inside. I do believe in God, but that doesn't make me master of all things knowledgeable. Go with your own heart and mind and you will find a path that works. (At least that is what I believe.)

I can feel for you. I have to have respect and a grudging admiration for those who really live on their beliefs, even if they are annoying. If you really truly believe that every person you laid eyes on was going to burn, be bitten, and face all manner of torture for eternity, including your family and loved ones, and you knew a way to spare them.....How loud would you be about it?

well religion does not matter it is the soul of that person and people have the right to believe what they feel they should so dont listen to rumors and tell those people that they should shut up and tell them you can believe in what you think.

Who the heck cares if she misspelled a word?! I think she's right! Everyone should just get along and stop insulting each other for what they believe. It's their choice.

Oh, and by the way, "Godless", before you try to start showing off your knowledge of French, ever thought that maybe her name is supposed to be "Snow White"? And not "White Snow"?

Christians try to convert you because they honestly believe in their God and they want you to feel the peace that they feel. They are taught that you should be witnessed to and urged to accept the lord. It's what they are taught, how they are raised, and what they believe above all else.
If you are upset about it, simply say "I respect your beliefs, and I hope that you will respect mine. However, I refuse to discuss religion since it is such a touchy subject."
