Leupold makes the best, you can pay more, but you can't get better.
And when it comes to an optical sight, don't waste your money buying a cheap scope.

A Nikon Prostaff is a very good scope to put on a high powered rifle. My cousin had a Nikon Prostaff mounted on a Remington Model 742 Woodmaster .30-06 rifle. His scope was 3-9 x40mm. I even used this very scope on my Savage Model 12FLV .22-250. I was pleased with the clarity of the glass.
You can get a Nikon Prostaff for $125-$145 in the 3-9x40mm and $165- $195 for the 3-9x50mm at the link below.......

i thing a nikon pro staff is good but not rugged. i would choose a leupold var 1-3x9x40 or 3x9x50.you can find them around $200.they have a lifetime warrant and they are very rugged and dependable.5 years ago this hunting magazine hired several pro hunters to fire all scopes and give thie opinion as what was best to worst.the best was a swarovski.number 2 was a leupold 3.5-10x50.leupold is well worth the affordable prices.
