We had a cat growing up named Domino, and she was a Manx. She had no tail, but we'd put her in the attic at night, and I have no idea how but she'd catch those suckers ALL te time.

-We didn't put her in the attic EVERY night, just when she needed it-

Six months ago I would've said any cat makes a good mouser because of my past experiences but this past summer my new cat Cali adopted me and come to find out she can't even catch a cold. I did see her catch some grasshoppers once and since I live in the country and did experience a mouse problem she was no help at all. I don't blame her personally, she's an awesome cat!

Usually an indoor/outdoor cat has more advanced 'hunting skills' and even with the same group of cats, it varies from animal to animal. Ask around friends and neighbours. Don't forget to worm the kitty afterwards

Cats inherit their hunting tendencies from their mother, and it's she who teaches them their skills. So look for one whose mother is a good hunter.

The spaying/neutering does not affect a cat's natural instinct to hunt and kill prey, nor does a full stomach. It's a cat's natural instinct to hunt, but some are obviously more skilled at it than others.

Kittens are taught to hunt by their mothers, so if you want a mouser, look for a cat whose mother was a good mouser.
