I guess you mean non-Christians. All Christians aren't Catholics. I'm a Protestant. Pentecostal.

Anyway...

Christmas, the way it is celebrated (commercially) is somewhat Pagan in origin. As is Easter. The original concept, while religious in nature, has been long since forsaken or even abandoned all together. This is to capture a broader market. Therefore, Christmas has been commercialized to include Santa Claus, decor and holiday cheer. This appeals to everyone. There's nothing wrong with this. Non-Christians get out of it what they want. The travesty is when Christians forget the true meaning of Christmas and only focus on the commercial aspect of it. While the commercial side of Christmas is wonderful and uplifting, Christians should also observe it as a celebration of the birth of Christ. Remember, no one really knows when Christ was born. Christmas is a day set aside to observe the event.

In the first place, many Christians are not Catholics, and they celebrate Christmas for the same reasons Catholics do. And many non-Christians celebrate Christmas as a secular holiday.

I think your question should really be,

"Why do non-believers celebrate Christmas?"

I celebrate Christmas because it was around the time Jesus was born.
