DO NOT TRY TO TALK AT ALL ... seriously, get a tablet and a pencil and WRITE everything you want to say ... and do this for at least a week then 'test' your voice ... if it's not 'back to normal' then don't try to talk at all for another three days. It's the strep in your larynx and if you 'force' yourself to talk you could do some bad damage to your larynx ... take your antibiotic and you should be 'back to normal' in 1-3 weeks. Sorry ... but maybe you'll learn to be quieter after this, since that 'loud voice' you use also damages your larynx, so you may not know what you 'really sound like' until this strep is over. I'm sorry you are sick, now take a sore throat lozenge or a cough drop and GO TO BED and drink lots of 'warm drinks' like tea with honey (nothing with milk) and you will feel better soon ... read a good book while you are sick ... watching TV is difficult because you don't feel good, but you can put your book down and snooze under those warm covers.

If it is strep, you will need antibiotics to cure it. You can relieve the symptoms by not trying to talk, drinking warm tea (chamomile and mint tea helps me when my throat is sore) and relax. You can also get a humidifier or take a hot bath or shower to sooth your throat. It will take a little time for your voice to be totally back to normal.
Don't drink milk. This will only cause your throat and sinuses to fill with mucus, which will not help your throat. Just tea, water and honey will help with the symptoms.

I just had larengitus like 2 weeks ago. I couldn't talk either.
Totally rest your voice (lol like you have a choice!).
Drink tons of water! It really helps. I had cheer competition and I went but faked talking and I went through 5 water bottles and I still needed more.
Go out and buy some cough drops. Sometimes they help. You can get them at drugstores like CVS.
Gargle salt water , I know ew, you don't have to though, that's why I didn't but it helps if you're desperate.
Have soup! The heat of it and the salt really helps you're throat. You can also have hot chocolate or tea.
Good luck!

Try not to talk. Get a lot of sleep. Stay warm. Have chicken broth or chicken noodle soup. Have hot chocolate. Have milkshakes. Have some honey. Drink lots of fluids, water. It feels good on your throat if you drink a carbonated drink like Diet coke or something. Eat healthy. Rest. Take medicine like this new tylenol cold gel caplets that just recently came out. I'd go see a doctor and have him/her check it out and he/she may be able to give you some medicine for it. I hope you feel better!

Definetly lots of rest. hot green tea and honey. I was sick like that about a month ago and i had green tea with a spoonful of Honey in it about twice a day for a couple days and it healed up fast. You can also suck on a spoonfull of honey.. but raw honey... not the syrup stuff. You can find it at any Whole Foods or Wild Oats store (health food store). Just ask for raw honey.
Good luck!

You should be on antibiotics and rest your voice....it will return eventually and in the mean time you give everyone a break from your loudness and can listen to other people for a change.

Drink something warm...
Maybe just boil water and add some lemon and honey if you don't like tea. And then go to sleep :)
If you can't, then just stay up and eat oranges and grapefruits. Vitamin C is good.

there's no real cure.. but all you can do is let it run its course, and try not 2 talk alot, whispering is alot of strain on vocal cords,so thats not the best thing to do,if you need 2 talk, maybe mini dry erase board, paper, or a laptop with you and use "Word" to type it and then giv it or turn it to the person, and they can read it
