When we are making out sometimes my boyfriend pulls me on top of him so that im lying on him. then he pulls me up and down so that im kind of rubbing against him. is this normal? and what does it mean? Oh and were both 17. also is it a bad thing?

sounds like it to me. Thats very normal for a guy to do that. Dont worry. It doesnt mean anything weird...hes just a guy...lol!!! theres nothing wrong with that, atleast its not real intercourse but i think you two are old enough to make that decision anyways.

Yep, that's dry humping, alright. It's not my place to either "approve or disapprove" of this activity for you, but I will say it is a fairly normal manifestation of hormonal and emotional upheavals going on within you (and every teenager) right about now. Is it bad? Well, it's not a simple matter of it being "bad" behavior or "good" behavior...it's pretty benign as far as sexual expression is concerned (I mean, you'll never get pregnant that way), but you certainly don't want to do it in, say, church (for instance), and it's the type of activity that CAN make you get carried away, throw caution to the wind and go the distance....(in which case, you CAN get pregnant that way). It's pretty normal. Yes it's what dry humping means. It makes him feel good. If you get the right angle, rubbing your clitoris, it should make you feel good too. It means he'd like to do it all, but you probably won't let him - so this is way to make you both feel good.
If you guys are 17 and this is as far as you've gotten - well, you're not as sexually active as most 17-yo, but that's a personal choice. I guess teen sex is about discovering yourself and learning about relationships, and you go as far and as fast as you want. At least this won't get you pregnant, as long as the clothing isn't too thin if/when he lets go. I would avoid this sort of activity in speedos.
Remember, guys are after one thing. (Two if you count oral sex separately).
