Some say that curbing illegal immigration is foreign policy, but I know that it's not that way. Can any one explain?

Illegal immigration is largely a push-pull phenomenon: Citizens of one country are essentially pushed out of their own country (by war, famine, economic distress, etc.) and pulled to another country that provides more stability and opportunity. Therefore, while the impact of illegal immigration is felt in the domestic arena by the country of destination, the root cause of the illegal migration can best be addressed by foreign policy measures directed toward stabilizing the country of origin.

When you have 20 to 38 million illegal alien invaders in your country, it is certainly a domestic issue. When you have over a million people a year crossing your border illegally from Mexico it is both a domestic and foreign issue. Since the Bush won't pressure Mexico to stop the influx of its poor citizens, then we must act domestically to build the fence, increase penalties for illegals and those who employ them, increase the number of BP and ICE agents, and enforce all of our immigration laws.

We can do little to stop illegals from coming to America, but we can make it much more difficult for them to live and work here. We can certainly end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens. Let's rid our nation of these pests ASAP!

They effect our economy here at home, making it a domestic issue... foreign policy is not going to help people from other countries that believe that coming to the U.S. is their ticket to the 'American Dream'.

There is a foreign issue aspect to it, especially if another government is aiding people to come here illegally.

The major aspect is domestic once they are here and affecting the economy.

It is a serious foreign issue. Mexico bully us and tells us to our faces than not only do they want foreign aid, but we are to have no control over how it is spent. Not only to they encourage their poor to leave they give them maps to greener pastures. If we did this to them it would be a act of war.
