My neighbor does. My best friend also has a child who needs an inhaler. Another has a child who has to carry and epi in case he comes in contact with peanut butter.
Any parent with a child that has need of medication regularly has to adjust. I can tell you that a day doesn't go by that my friend with the child who has the pb allergy doesn't worry about what might happen during the day at school.
From observation, this is hugely more stressful.
However, fortunately my children don't have those conditions. If they did, we'd deal with it and keep living just like the others who have to face it, do.

Tough. Really tough. Isolating. Scary at times. Overwhelming at times. No different than anyone else when it comes down to it. An advantage - they're going to learn how to take care of themselves and remain healthy. (hey! I'm trying to look on the brightside. The silver lining...)
But I think how a parent approaches the illness and treatment can really make a difference. Don't do everything for the child. Do NOT make it an excuse, a crutch, a reason to be coddled or treated as "special". A child with diabetes has to grow up faster than a child without diabetes because they have a special responsability to take care of (their health!) but we all learn sooner or later that our bodies are precious, fragile and a temple and must be fed, well-rested and excercised in order to remain balanced and stay in top functioning form.

It's not easy, you have to monitor their blood sugar carefully; but you love your kids so much you'd do anything for them and wouldn't trade one of them for anything!
