my friend said that a PLASTION 3 needs a cooling kit is this true people?

No, no no no absolutely no! In fact having a cooling kit will probably do more harm then good especially if you don't get the right one. Some may void the warranty by drawing power straight from PS3 (causing it to use more power, meaning more heat = useless) But the PS3 does not have overheating problems, thats the 360. Just make sure the PS3 is far from objects like walls so that it can blow its hot air out, and not have it bounce back, also don't purposely keep it on if you don't need to.

No it is not. I can leave my PS3 on for weeks and it wouldn't overheat. Even if it was overheating the light on the front start flashing and it shuts down. If that happens to yours than I would consider buying a cooling system. But mine has never done this , and I doubt it ever will.
