why r they called illegal aliens? r they from outer space? seriously i want ur comments. illegal immigrants sounds fine but aliens come on! does our government hate them or favour them. most important when these illegal aliens become LEGAL r they called Legal aliens?

Alien: from a different place. Illegal is self explanatory. If they become legal they are legal residents as they have given up their allegiance to the place they came from .

Aliens means they are not citizens of this country. Illegal means they are not citizens of this country and are not here legally. Immigrant indicates a legal process was followed that legitimizes their presence here,
Aliens who are here legally are called legal aliens.

It only sounds like that because of 40 years of sci fi movies. Alien means foreign or different and was not coined to refer to ET.

The word alien is proper if you look up its meaning in the dictionary. It does not refer to ET.
