Swim suit, shorts, tee shirts, light clothing. If you're going to the Big Island and plan a trip in a higher elevation, warm clothing. Bring comfortable walking shoes. Slippers (flip flops) are fine for running around; however, if you want to hike Diamond Head or plan to do lots of touristy stuff, comfortable shoes are a must. If you burn easily, bring a hat and sunblock. If you're going out in the evening, it can dip below 70 degrees, so a light jacket is good.

It never hurts to layer. This time of year ESPECIALLY! We get a lot of rain and the wind can also make you chilled so a hoodie or sweatshirt is nice, maybe a light jacket. Everywhere here is fairly casual unless they SPECIFY a dress code but what they call Aloha wear is almost always acceptable...this means button down shirts with Hawaiian print and Kakhi shorts or slacks. Try Hilo Hatties if you want an authentic design!

I have just come back from Hawaii to Australia, agree with both answers given.
Casual, comfortable, dress up or down and definitely an umbrella.
Enjoy, the people are lovely and friendly, so much so sometimes I forgot I was out of Aust.
Aloha

Casual clothes. Shorts, shirts, tank tops. Slippers. Nice casual outfit for dinner cruise or nice dinner restaurant. Tennis shoes if hiking, bike riding, etc. One light jacket. YOu should state where exactly you are going because Hawaii has microclimates so the weather changes dramtically from region to region.

It's casual here, but don't wear shorts out to dinner or the like, bring khakis. Don't bring long-sleeve polyester, you will wilt. Bring lots of sunblock so you don't turn lobster, and bring sunglasses. It is likely to rain so a poncho and small umbrella would be good. One nice outfit would be good for a nicer dinner somewhere.

We are pretty casual here. Unless you are going to one of the fanciest restaurants, you won't need anything dressier than an aloha shirt or polo type shirt. In addition to what has been named. a light weight waterproof jacket might be helpful. It can get cool on a breezy night.
