Listerine On Hair

2017-01-03 11:11:05 · answer #2 · answered by parke 4 · 0 0

Listerine can be used as a rinse especially if you have dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis.
I would not use it more than 3-4 times a week.
If you have a problem with the skin on your scalp, you can use a cotton ball and apply it to your head before you go to bed.
You can then wash your hair in the morning as usual.
Listerine contains alcohol which of course is very drying to the hair and scalp so, make sure you use a conditioner (a light one) so you will not dry yourself out.

I had some mouthwash that said it worked as a hair wash, it worked pretty well. Listerine might be good. I would suggest reading the label, and maybe diluting it a bit. If you can stand it in your mouth, it probably won't hurt your skin or hair.

Listerine will dry out your hair because it contains a high amount of alcohol and sugar. It would be better for you to use bar soap or the cheapest shampoo you can find than Listerine on your hair.

I have never personally tried it. I would assume that with the high alcohol content in it that it would dry your hair badly, and cause it to be frizzy, If you have blonde hair it might tint it to what ever color your listerine is...

I also wouldn't use soap unless you are extremely broke it will also dry your hair out really bad...

I am sure that for what ever hair problem that you are having that there is a shampoo out their for it....

If you are looking for a home remedy for a hair problem go to a search engine and type in home remedy for ____ hair, that should give you a whole list and then some.....

If I new what your problem was I could give you some suggestions you can e-mail me if you like.

Good luck

Listerine will never clean your hair.
The alcohol content will actually make your hair dry.
If you are having a scalp problem (dandruff or dry scalp), it will make it worse, because it will make your scalp drier.
Use an appropriate shampoo and conditioner for your particular hair and scalp problem.
You don't have to spend a fortune to have nice hair and scalp.
You just have to find the product that best suits your needs and your budget.
Tresseme has a full line of wonderful shampoos and conditioners, which can be purchased at Wal-Mart, for about $5.00 per quart.

Whatever gave you the thought to use mouthwash to wash your hair. You use soap or shampoo. Listerine will likely damage your hair and possibly cause skin problems with your scalp. IF it get in your eyes you will wish you never thought of it.

Use what you are supposed to - Shampoo or mild soap. At worst, diswashing detergent will also do a wonderful job of cleaning all oil or dirt and dead skin cells from your scalp.

No. Listerine has alcohol in it. I drink it every night before I go to bed.

The alcohol content of Listerine will lead the effect to be akin to hairspray circa 1983.

Yes. It is sometimes recommended by health professionals after shampooing (as a rinse - then rinse it out) to reduce dandruff and itchy scalp. Personally, I think vinegar is the better choice. But who's asking? LOL
