Any other ideas why we attack Iraq besides those that don`t make any sence, like:
1. They had WMD - they never had and we knew that.
2. They had connections with al-qaida - they never had and we knew that, Saddam was fighting terrorism and separatism within his country.
3. To bring them Democracy - Iraq was more socially advanced than most countries in arab world and iraqi women had more liberties than any other arab country.
4. To finish his dads job - doesn`t make any sence why 3,000 young boys and girls have to give their lives to finish his dads job.
Please exclude those answers.

5. We did it for OIL - I remember when we attacked back in April 2003 Gas was $1.59, now it`s $3.29. And as far as I know prices on gas went up primarily because of instability in this region.

There were no terrorists in Iraq before US invasion - NOW there are! Saddam instructed his operatives not to contact al-qaida because of its terrorists ties. May be you should swicth channels from Fox to CNN or even better start reading.

WMD and Al Qaeda were excuses, used to sell the war to the American people. The REAL reason the Neocons gave us this misbegotten war is that it was part of their scheme to remake the Middle East to make it safe for Israel. But is Israel any better off for it? NO! Yet they're still at it, wanting to use US muscle to attack ANOTHER enemy of Israel for them (Iran).

1. Iraq is a strategic location for military bases. It borders many countries that are unfriendly to the U.S. and sponsor terrorist activities like the 9/11 attacks.
2. Iraq has the oil resources we need. We need to set up a friendly government that will sell us the oil at a fair price, and not use it as political leverage.
3. Iraq under Sadadm was a threat to Israel, who are our allies. They had missiles which could hit Israeli cities.
4. We elected a president and vice president who have strong ties to the energy and defense industries. War is good for those sectors of the economy.
5. So our military can get real-world experience that will help it be an effective force if we need to fight other countries.
Hope that helps.

The reasons are contained in the Congressional Authorization passed by the Congress in 2002. They mirror many of the reasons contained in the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998. The first link below is for the 2002 law. The second is for that law passed in 1998.

Wow you are in la la land arent you.
Saddam was fighting terrorism? He was paying familes of Hammas Suicide bombers 20k becuase they sat on a bus and blew up innocent civilians. Weird way to fight terrorism.
By the way the fact that he squashed any terrorist that were not working for him that tried to operate in Iraq isnt him fighting terrorism it is no different than the mob bosses rubbing out any other mob faction trying to work in their territory or a drug dealer offing another drug dealer for encroaching on his turf. He was the only terrorist needed in the area in his opinion.
Iraq was more socially advanced. Why dont you ask the Iraq soccer team if they agree. After losing a match they were taken to a facility where some were dunked in human waste and left to sit for days while others were beaten and crippled while others were beaten to death. For what? Lossing a soccer match. where families had to worry if someone would be taken from their house in the middle of the night to be tortured or killed.
Let's see. if I knew the cops were coming to my house to search for drugs and they sent me 14 notices over a 3 year time period to warn me they were going to do so, Do you think that when they arrived they would find any and if they didnt would you be able to conclude that there were never any there? I am sure I would find a way to get rid of them in advance. You know to my neighbor syria.
If Bush wanted more oil he could have done it cheaper with less expense and trouble by just ordering drilling in the anwar or any of the other places that are held up becuase of enviromental issues. Yes he would catch flak for doing it but less than what he would for 4k american lives.
Have you been to Iraq? I have. The people there were thanking me for being there. In fact an Iraqi woman risked her life by running across a street in the middle of a fire fight to bring rags to me to stop the bleeding from the wounds I received from being shot. By the way I was shot by a foriegn fighter (not Iraqi) who was dressed as a civilian and was hidding among woman & children when he opened fire on me.
We are in Iraq becuase they ignored 14 UN resolutions and snubed their nose at the UN & US, but the UN didnt have the balls to bakc their own resolutions, They also Violated the cease fire agreement they signed with the US at the end of the 1st Gulf war.

Iraqi freedom, Democracy and all the other crap are just fancy titles to cover up the real agenda!
The usual suspects!
More domination( in this case, total domination of ME), OIL, Israel, Iran, Syria,..........
The way US insults every one's intelligence and keep doing the same old conducts and policies, is beyond me!

There is a little known plan formed by a group of neo-cons that placed G.W. Bush in office for one reason. THE PLAN WAS TO ELIMINATE ANY COUNTRY THAT ENDED IN A "Q". or ANY COUNTRY THAT G.W. BUSH COULDN'T SPELL. You ought to see their list of countries he can't spell!!!! Now they have changed their plans and they think it probably would be better to get him some tutorial assistance in learning to spell. And now you know the rest of the story...Good Day.

We now know no wmd's were found; but dems, rebs.& the west believed it. al-qaida was & is trying to start a terrior training camp. Sadam was firing missels @ our planes in the no fly zone. He killed his people & tottured them. He allowed his 2 sons to rape any woman they wished. He killed many of his kin to hold power. Those americans that are killed there are saving your right to ask your statements. They die to help a country that had been ruled for 50+ yrs by Tyrrany.

1. Yes they did have them what do you think Sadam used to gas millions of kurds in northern Iraq cow farts? "Halabja was the "most notorious and the deadliest single gas attack against the Kurds," killing 5,000 civilians." That was just one of more than 40 sarin gas attacks on the Kurds.
2. Iraq was a hot bed of terroriest training. and it still is.
3. We need an american friendly country in the mideast so we can keep tabs on everyone else.
4. Papa bush did finish his job he set out to do. In the Gulf War. That war was not to capture Iraq but to drive Iraq out of Kuwait. We drove Iraq out of Kuwait boom missions accomplished.
I am not sure where you get your facts. You know not everything on tv is true.
