I have two job interviews with two excellent companies. The first interview will be next week and the second interview will be two weeks after the first one. Normally, the interviewer asks if the candidate is interviewing with other companies or have been looking around for other companies. I think the first company will need my answer to their offer before the second interview. I think the answer to this question is VERY difficult especially:

1-If you say: Yes, I have another interview after this interview: The interviewer might think that you are not serious about the company and you are still looking. Therefore, this may put me behind other candidates. Besides, they may offer me a different benefit package since I am not that serious (as they think).
2-If you say: No, I have no other interviews at this time: The interviewer might think either that you are interested in the company only (good sign), or your qualifications are not that attractive to other employers (bad sign-small

People who are actively looking for a new job most ofen apply to multiple positions, so I don't think it reflect badly on you to have made other applications, so I would be honest and tell them about other interviews. On the plus side, it will make you seem like you are serious about finding a position, and if they are interested in you they should make an offer to you quickly before you get another offer elsewhere.

The real motive behind asking such a question regarding your multiple job applications is simple: are you an opportunist who's not really interested in a full-time permanent job? Are you a job-hopper? But again, a review or your resume/application would easily bring forth data showing the many jobs you have had. The interviewer's question about whether or not you are going to another interview is redundant and not necessary.

So, my recommendation when asked the question of multiple job applications is a courteous piece of social fluff :

"Yes, I have various employment agencies and headhunters who are actively promoting my job search." Again, there's no need to take a direct hit. Respond indirectly to their indirect query. This is not disingenuous.

Good luck!

very difficult decision, but you can't lie. i'd say yes, but try to think of a way to show them that you're very interested in their company, but just want to keep your options open.
