If god did exist he'd probably reward people who rationalise than people who follow blindly.

It depends on how you define "good." What's important is God's idea of good, since it is He who will do the judging. What you can do is subject the people to the Ten Commandments. Do they have any other gods beside the Creator? Then they broke the law and are lawbreakers. This is not good! Have they stolen or envied? Then they are lawbreakers and not good.
For this reason Jesus was angry with the "good" Pharisees because they saw themselves as good and the rest of the people as cursed. Jesus, on the other hand commended the prostitutes and other lawbreakers to coming to God based on His mercy. They indeed got a "free ride" but only because entered the only door of the kingdom that God held open - faith and repentance.
It will help you if you saw people not as good and bad, but as in need of God's saving grace. All good people have done bad things and all bad people ahve done good things.

This question assumes that some are good and some are bad. In reality we all have sinned. Now, a lot of people seem to think that an evil person can just say a prayer and go to heaven, but that prayer will only work for a person who is truly repentant, willing to turn away from their sin and follow Christ. God knows the heart, He knows if the person is truly sorry for their sin or if they are just trying to stay out of Hell, He knows whether they truly have love in their heart for Him or if they are just trying to take advantage.
He is not mocked.

You don't go to Hell or Heaven based on whether you believe or not. Where you go depends on the life you live, and what you do with the knowledge that you have.
Believing in God does not guarantee your spot in Heaven.

I agree with sylverbutterfli. Good is always good and they deserve good. Nasty people (real nasty) must go to hell no matter what they believe.

I think that there are good people who will go to hell because they have chosen to deny Christ as their savior. We are all guilty of sin. Christians have chosen to believe in Christ who took the punishment for us. Others will still have to pay that punishment. It isn't about good or bad. However, I think that 'Christians' who don't follow the teachings they claim to believe in will go to hell. If you believe something live up to it. If you don't you are a hypocrite. It is sad that there are people who claim to be christians that forget to love. I think it is a good question.

Not at all. I don't think it works like that. I think God, or whatever a person chooses to call The Higher Power, is above all of the nit-picky organized religion stuff. Good people go to Heaven, bad people go to hell. People that are truly bad but think they get into Heaven because they go to church on Sunday are in for a rude awakening. Just my opinion. As for me, I would rather go through life believing in God and then find out there isn't one, than go through life NOT believing in God and find out there is one. Believe in God--what do you have to lose?

None of us are righteous, the Bible says "no not one." Being self-righteous is a great sin. Thinking you are better than someone else is a sin.
God lets it rain on the just and the unjust alike because that may be all they get if they don't accept Jesus as their Savior.

call it what you want, but any god that lets ugly-souled people (who ask for forgiveness, again and again) into heaven while denying people who do not believe yet still lead good prosperous lives, i dont think i wanna hang out with a god or people like that.

Who is getting a free ride? God knows our hearts, He can see exactly how we really feel. We must accept Jesus, and live according to His Word, He knows who does and who does not. :)
