It happens, the ones I use are difficult to tell which way they are so I do put them in inside out quite often, but it soons becomes apparent because the lens doesn't 'settle' and moves when I blink. If you're not sure just take it out and put it back in the other way, you'll soon get to know when it's wrong if you do it a few times! Sounds like this is what you've done. Don't forget to put some comfort solution or whatever you use on it before you put it back in.
My don't sting at all, they just don't feel right.
Put the lens on your fingertip and if the edges seem to curve outwards instead of inwards, they're inside out.

Actually the lens will not sit on the eye appropriately, more specifically, it will not sit on the cornea right..so it will typically fold in half or fold and fall out of your eye...it may cause some irritation, but nothing outrageously...and if you do put the lens in and it's a thin lens, and it sits somewhat on the cornea, your vision will not be crisp. They will give you some form of discomfort. Burning seldom happens unless you have something on the lens itself!! So, in a nutshell, the lens will not sit on the cornea right, it will try and fold if you blink a few times and come out...or your vision acuity will not be what it sould be!!
Good Luck !!

Just take the contact out of your right eye, pop it the right way around, then rinse with saline solution before putting it back in your eye. If you are using disposable lenses, it may be better to just throw that one away and put a fresh one in. When they are in correctly you should not feel anything, and see perfectly.

Well that happened to my friend and her eye hurt. Also she couldn't see clearly, it was all fuzzy. Also your eye can be red. Don't worry maybe your eyes are going to have to adjust or if it still hurts maybe you should get different kind of contacts.

In my particular case, if I put in my contacts wrong, they just don't stay in one place and I can feel them moving around every time I blink.
